Leden van de Feelies hebben ooit tijdens het bestaan van deze illustere band, twee "side-projects"gehad: te weten The Trypes and The Yung Wu.
Mijn pogingen een product van één van die twee "bij-bands" , The Explorers Hold van The Trypes hier te plaatsen, waren gedoemd te mislukken door aanhoudende problemen met de hoes.
Echter !! , we hebben hier gelukkig nog Sheplays, die ik bij deze wil voordragen voor voor de eretitel : "Sheplays, The One and Only Cover Wizzard" van Music Meter.
Want zojuist kreeg ik een berichtje van haar dat The Trypes nu ook op Music Meter zijn gearriveerd: dank, dank, dank en een zoen

THE TRYPES
Glenn and Bill joined the Trypes' founder John Baumgartner in 1982, since they left the Feelies aside for a period of time. In this band they also met the future Feelies members Brenda Sauter and Stan Demeski. The Trypes recorded in 1984 a beautiful soft psychedelic EP: here woodwinds and keyboards are prominent compared to the Feelies' usual guitar-dominated sound. The group evolved later into Speed the Plough.

The four songs emphasize coloration not beat, yet, for all its subdued calm, there's an explosive tension bubbling underneath the music. The muted guitars threaten — but never give way to — riotous mayhem. Only on the cover of George Harrison's "Love You To" do drummer Stan Demeski's hyperkinetic tom-tom patterns come to the fore, making the Trypes a loud psychedelic folk band. The quieter songs, complete with woodwinds and keyboards, are hauntingly beautiful.

Oh, maar ik luister dit wel hoor... niet zo vaak als the Feelies... maar wel eens.... goede plaat... verder niks aan toe te voegen.... wel goeie tip trouwens.... dat dit weer verkrijgbaar is.... mijn cdr kraakt nogal....
