Van alle anime films uit de Ghibli-studio is dit wat mij betreft een van de opvallendste scores... lekker actief en feel-good maar nergens te kinderachtig. Vooral het eerste deel (de kortere nummers) zijn sterk en beklijven. Zo snel als de film op gang komt, zo snel zit je ook in deze score. Een aanloop van 31 seconden is genoeg voor veel mooie tracks. Met Have You Waken Up, Haru? wordt meteen de juiste toon ingezet. Melodieus en opgewekt. Het album is verder speels, avontuurlijk, soms lekker mysterieus zoals wanneer King Cat in beeld komt. Ooit eerder een hoopvollere track gehoord dan Welcome to the Cat Office?
