Wat the Fuck...................

Ben ik net bij mijn platenboer....... en jawel hoor daar staat deze dus gewoon heel erg naar mij te roepen neem mij mee neem mij mee en tsja daar zeg je dan dus geen nee tegen hé........

Dit is een schitterende verzamelbox van alle amerikaanse nummer 1 hits die dit label heeft voort gebracht van hun aller eerste in 1960 tot en met 2000.......
En dit alles op 10 cd's in een prachtig vormgegeven box in de vorm van het bekende Hitsville U.S.A.Huis........

Dit is een schitterende aanvulling op de 2 boxen Hitsville U.S.A. Vol 1 & 2

Een waar collecters item...... en een must have voor elke soul (Motown in het bijzonder) liefhebber...... Kost wel wat maar dan heb je ook wat...........

Deze week alle cd's eens beluisterd en ik moet zeggen dat er enorm veel prachtige en bekend in de oren klinkende nummers tussen staan, zelfs voor een relatieve soul-leek als ik!

Ik schat dat ik aan een 80-tal nummers kom, die absoluut de moeite waard zijn en die een mooi overzicht geven van hoe verscheiden dit genre kan zijn. Een 40-tal daarvan vind ik zelfs ronduit fantastisch en zouden voor mij een zuivere 5 sterren compilatie kunnen opleveren.

Jammer genoeg blijven er dan natuurlijk meer dan 100 nummers over die ofwel niet echt mijn ding zin (los van de kwaliteit ervan dus) ofwel hemeltergend slecht zijn. Op de laatste cd's wordt zo vooral geïllustreerd dat de jaren '80 overliepen van overgeproduceerde gevoelloze kutzooi; gelukkig af en toe recht gehouden door Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross en Rick James.

Kortom t.e.m. cd 5 is dit een fantastische compilatie om in huis te halen, nadien zakt het niveau behoorlijk in, om naar het einde toe zelfs een behoorlijk vieze indruk na te laten.

Tip: CD 9 en 10 geef je maar beter direct weg aan iemand die je niet al te dierbaar is!

Geweldige box, en een prachtig overzicht van Motown door de decennia heen. Duur maar heel erg mooi!

Let op: op dit moment 'slechts' 65 euro op amazon.de thuis gestuurd in de Motown 60th anniversary 11 CD uitvoering uit 2019.
