The Hotrats - Turn Ons (2009)

Geen héél indrukwekkend album van deze Supergrass-spin-off... Big Sky/Crystal Ship/Up the Junction zijn wel smakelijk, terwijl de rest een beetje nietszeggend langs komt rocken...
Weinig speciaals, maar het klinkt ook niet heel verkeerd ofzo.

Jammer hoor.
Dit is een verzameling zouteloze covers van o.a. The Doors, Beasty Boys, David Bowie, Roxy Music, Sex Pistols, Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground....... Ik heb geen eigen nummer kunnen ontwaren in ieder geval. Beetje slap uitgevoerd ook.
Ik vind dat ze dat nummer van the Cure nog wel aardig doen (the Lovecats) maar voor de rest kan het me niet boeien.

Ik snap ook niet veel van deze release.
Waarom covers? Is de inspiratie op?
Waarom deze nummers? Er staan toch veel nietszeggende nummers op wat mij betreft.
Het is allemaal niet slecht, want het zijn natuurlijk wel 2 goede muzikanten, maar waarom???

Bijzonder leuk cover-album.

Met BIKE als hoogtepunt, maar Damaged Goods en Queen Bitch mogen er zeker ook zijn.

Op mooi rood vinyl.

Blijkbaar heeft deze indertijd toch genoeg verkocht, want op 19 juni verschijnt de (wel zeer gulle) 10th anniversary edition (beetje te laat weliswaar )

Ik las het ja, een heruitgave. Die cover van Milkshake is wel hilarisch goed. Meestal zijn coveralbums plichtmatig, deze is een uitzondering. Dit is destijds met plezier gemaakt en dat hoor ik vooral terug op dit album. Vooral E.M.I. en Love is the drug zijn echt goed. En de rest daar spat het plezier ook vanaf.
