Anyone who's followed the unwinding tale of magic that's been Super Furry Animals' recording career will be familiar with their influences, from their beloved Datblyu (they covered Y Teimlad on Mwng) to the grandiose epic pop of The Beach Boys and ELO. They've namechecked Meic Stevens and Hardfloor in interviews, but always managed to twist their influences into something new and essential.

This instalment in the Under The Influence series gathers together three songs chosen by each band member. From the familiar (Kick Out The Jams, Family Affair) to the four-song techno meltdown that closes the album, this will be welcomed by fans who want to explore the varied sources that helped shaped SFA's sound. There's also a notable rarity, in Dennis Wilson's exquisite b-side Lady.

Perhaps most intriguing are Cian's oddly disjointed choices, which team Humanoid and Joey Beltram with an extract from Georges Bizet's Pearl Fishers. But that's SFA all over: diverse, adventurous, and always providing the unexpected.
