The Pineapple Thief - 12 Stories Down (2004)

Wie kent dit album? Is het de moeite waard of is het genoeg als je het album 10 Stories Down aanschaft?

Inmiddels ken ik het en heb het in bezit: het is wonderbaarlijk mooi. Vooral 'Prey for Me', 'The World I Always Dreamed of', 'Oblivion' en 'Clapham' zijn juweeltjes. The Pineapple Thief (TPT) is een soort kruising tussen Porcupine Tree en Coldplay met subtiele mooie ProgRock songs.
Van het album 12 Stories Down zijn slechts 1000 exemplaren uitgebracht met daarbij ook de bonus cd '8 Days Later'. Op deze bonus cd kom ik later nog terug.
In ieder geval voor 12 Stories Down: 5*

Heb deze CD nog altijd niet kunnen beluisteren, maar als ie zo goed is (of beter hehe)dan "137", "Abdcucting The Unicorn" of "Variations of A Dream"... MOET IK HEM DRINGEND AANSCHAFFEN !!!

Zeer sympathiek bandje.. zwaar ONDERSCHAT... worde vaak in één adem genoemd met Porcupine Tree... en zelfs Radiohead... maar dan vind ik hen niet alleen sympathieker maar ook béter !!!

Steeds mooier worden ook: The Answers en Slip Away.

Ik waag mij nog niet aan deze plaat. Ik ben er bang voor dat ik straks niets anders luister dan Pineapple Thief. Vind ik zo zonde van alle cd's die ik al heb liggen. Is dit wederom een volle 5***** cd van deze meesterlijke band, of gaan ze hier gewoon nog een stap hoger?

Ja, 12 Stories Down is nog een stap hoger dan Variations on a Dream.

Dus dit is een previes-versie van 10 stories down?

En 8 days is een bonuscd van Variations on a Dream en 8 days later is een bonuscd van 10 stories down.
En er is ook nog EP, getiteld 4 stories down.

Het wordt er allemaal niet overzichtelijker op.
Wat is nu de originele release? 10 of 12 Stories Down?

Een paar jaar later stel ik dezelfde vraag. Ik ben in het bezit van Ten Stories Down incl de bonusdisc 8 days later.

Eerst dacht ik dacht 12 stories doen dezelfde versie was als 10 stories down maar dan met twee bonus tracks. Maar als ik deze tracklist zie, klopt dat ook niet. Waar is het mooie tweeluik "light up your eyes" gebleven? Deze cd is niet compleet zonder!

Pineapple Thief are getting into the habit of releasing CDs with BONUS CDs (On "Variations of a Dream it was "8 days", and on "12 STories down" it was "8 days later"). These pieces were supposedly written/produced/mastered etc in that 8 day period,and these so called Bonus CDs are not just filler stuff either.I am basing this review on the "12 Stories down" CD. The difference between 10SD and 12SD is that 10SD has the songs "Wretched Soul" and "(I will) light up your eyes" whereas 12SD includes the songs "Watch the world turn grey", "Catch a jumping fool" and "Take our hands". I have listened to the versions of the songs on 10SD and there is a noticeable difference in the mix of the songs as well, so quite honestly, for all real Pineapple Thief fans,you need both, and dont forget the EP "4 Stories down" which has an unreleased track "Ground floor" and extended version of "Subside".
