Bambi, Jungle Book, Dumbo, Snow White...zijn toch een paar van de mooiste klassiekers van Disney...althans voor mij dan toch. Ook staan hier een aantal prachtige liedekes op, die ik nog steeds wel kan waarderen in de context waarin het gemaakt is.
Destijds werden soms grote namen uit de jazz wereld of andere goede muzikanten uitgenodigt om hun muze op de film los te laten. Dat zorgde vaak voor eigentijdse, opvallende composties. Later is het vooral zoetsappiger geworden en meer van het zelfde. Hoewel een Under the Sea en Hakuna Matata daar positieve uitzonderingen op zijn...respectievelijk van The Little Mermaid en Lion King. The Bare Necessities is een favoriet aller tijden..die zouden ze zo op mijn begrafenis mogen draaien...er moet ook wat te lachen vallen toch.
