een fraaie verzamelaar van de folk troubadour "living legend" Ramblin' Jack Elliott die ooit in 1956 debuteerde met de EP "Woody Guthrie's Blues".
deze verzamelaar met Amerikaanse folk muziek met een enkele keer een blues of country sausje is als volgt samengesteld:
1 t/m 10 van het album "Talking Woody Guthrie" (1966)
11 t/m 17 van het album "Muleskinner" (1964)
18 t/m 24 van het album "Roll On Buddy" (1964) met Derroll Adams
de nummers werden voor cd geproduceerd door Tony Engle en de geluidskwaliteit is prima.
veel Woody Guthrie songs, een aantal traditionals en public domain liedjes plus 1 cover "San Francisco Bay Blues" van bluesman Jesse Fuller en 2 covers "Mule Skinner's Blues" en "All Around the Water Tank" van country icoon Jimmy Rodgers.
authentieke, pure folk muziek die duidelijk maakt waar Bob Dylan mede de mosterd vandaan haalde toen hij aan het begin van zijn carrière stond. Ramblin' Jack Elliott horen we met zijn zang, akoestische gitaar en af en toe een harmonica. op 4 nummers (20,21,23 en 24) speelt hij samen met folkie Derroll Adams (vocal & banjo).
meerdere nummers zou hij later opnieuw opnemen en verschenen in nieuwe versies op o.a. "Kerouac's Last Dream" (1981) en zijn sterke comeback album "South Coast" (1995).

These are some of the first recordings that Jack made soon after his arrival in London, hanging out at the Yellow Door Flophouse by day and singing in Soho by night to hungry beatniks at The Roundhouse and then on to entertain well-heeled night-owls at The Blue Angel * all too soon he was gone, away across Europe on some mad adventure and although he was to return a couple of times and record more songs these are the tapes that inspired a generation"
