10 cd's prop vol met het aller beste van wat de heren Gamble & Huff geproduceerd en uitgebracht hebben op het beroemde Philadelphia International Records Label.

Philadelphia International Records is opgericht in 1971 door Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff de heren hadden al een aantal kleine labels en die zijn in de begin periode op gegaan in Philadelphia International. In de Sigma Sound Studio's zijn bijna alle nummers opgenomen de meesten onder de productieve leiding van Joe Tarsia en de meer dan 30 vaste studio muzikanten / achtergrond zangers en zangeressen verzorgden zo goed als altijd de muzikale omlijsting. Die ruim 30 mannen en vrouwen zijn bekend geworden onder de naam M.F.S.B. (Mothers Fathers Sisters and Brothers) zij waren de echte Philly Sound.

Alle disco knallers uit de 70ties van de hand van de heren staan op deze bloemlezing van het label.
Deze 10 cd's zijn niet alleen de blauwdruk van de Philly Sound maar van de Disco in zijn algemeenheid.
Zonder Gamble & Huff zou het "dance" landschap er waarschijnlijk heel anders uit hebben gezien. Vergelijk het maar met de invloed die Saunderson, May & Atkins 15 jaar later zouden hebben op de ontwikkeling van Techno.

Schitterende box met zeer informatief boekwerk over het Label, aan rader voor één ieder die van disco / funk houd. Zeer compleet en in de meeste gevallen de originele 12" uitvoering.

Is deze box iets te "machtig" dan zijn er natuurlijk bergen normale verzamelaars te vinden waarvan The Greatest Hits of Philadelphia International (2005), Conquer the World (2008), The Sound of Philadelphia (2008) en The Gamble & Huff Songbook (2006) de betere zijn.
Ook de 4cd remix box Philadelphia International Classics (2012) is zeer de moeite waard, en wil je alleen maar de 12" versies dan is Philadelphia International Records 12" Singles (2006) een erg sterke verzamelaar.
