Aanrader voor alle ABBA-fans. Agnetha vóór (en een stukje tijdens) Abba. Een hele goeie verzameling van haar Zweedse hits en onbekendere nummers. Als je van lekkere zoete leuke liedjes houdt he-le-maal goed!

This album covers Agnetha's Swedish output, mostly from before the Abba years. As a singer-songwriter, she had her first hit with the amazing Jag Var Sa Kar (I Was So In Love) in 1968. The wistful, yearning tone of this song, with Agnetha's haunting and mature vocals (inspired by Connie Francis) sets the tone for much of her other work. Among the best examples of this style on the album is Om Tarar Vore Guld (If Tears Were Gold), a malancholy yet beautiful schlager.
As the album progresses (in chronological order) we see a development in Agnetha's material as she moves more towards pop, as seen in the funky Doktorn (Doctor). Husband Bjorn Ulvaeus was on board from 1970 and can be heard on the backing vocals for tracks such as the bouncy Manga Ganger An (So Much To Come), one of the more uptempo tracks at which Agnetha equally excels.
Other notable tracks include Vart Skall Min Karlek Fora (I Don't Know How To Love Him), a cover of the Lloyd-Webber/Rice song, and Agnetha's original Swedish version of SOS, written by Benny and Bjorn but released a year before Abba's English version of the same song.
The album closes with a brilliant ballad, "Nar Du Tar Mej I Din Famn (When you take me in your arms), dating from 1979, the same time as Abba's Voulez-Vous album. This shows that Agnetha had not lost the knack of writing a great tune or of performing it in her brilliant and unique way.
A great and essential album for any Abba fan.
