De laatste tijd brengt Cherry Red de een na de andere cd box uit. En elke box wordt telkens weer gekenmerkt door niet alleen prachtige en soms niet eerder op cd verschenen pareltjes van songs, maar ook door mooie vormgeving en veel informatie in de sleeve notes.
Deze box is enkele jaren eerder uitgebracht, maar voldoet ook aan al deze maatstaven.

Wat misschien niet iedereen weet, is dat er naast Cherry Red Records ook Cherry Red Books bestaat. Het komt wel eens voor, dat het onderwerp van een Cherry Red cd box geïnspireerd is op een eerder verschenen Cherry Red boek. Zo is deze cd box gebaseerd op het in 1997 uitgegeven Cherry Red boek: "Indie Hits 1980 - 1989", samengesteld door Barry Lazell. Dit boek is een naslagwerk, waarin UK indie releases van 1980 - 1989 in alfabetische volgorde weergegeven staan.

Nu heeft Cherry Red zojuist weer een nieuwe cd box aangekondigd, getiteld "Burning Britain" en als onderwerp: UK punk uit de periode 1980 - 1983. Ook deze nieuwe cd box is geïnspireerd op een eerder verschenen Cherry Red boek: "Burning Britain - The History of UK Punk 1980 - 1984", geschreven door Ian Glasper. Het is een aangenaam leesboek, waarin de UK punk stroming uit die periode per regio beschreven wordt. Ik heb er alle vertrouwen in, dat deze nieuwe cd box net zo aangenaam zal zijn.
