Leuke compilatie. Wat Rock Godz vooral bijzonder maakt, zijn de verschillende versies van de diverse songs. Slechts een beperkt deel van de 40 nummers op deze dubbelaar betreft albumversies. Andere songs zijn gemixt of opnieuw opgenomen.
De songkeuze is soms wel erg voor de hand liggend, dat zie ik persoonlijk als nadelig. Want grijsgedraaide hits als Rosanna (Toto), Every Rose Has Its Thorn (Poison), Keep on Loving You (REO Speedwagon) en The Final Countdown (Europe) zijn deze compilatie onwaardig.
Nieuw materiaal vind je niet op Rock Godz. Ikzelf kende alleen de songs van Motley Crue, Hanoi Rocks en Autograph niet van deze bands/artiesten, voordat ik dit album ging beluisteren.
Hoogtepunten voor mij zijn vooral In the Heat of the Night van de NWOBHM-pioniers Diamond Head, Souped-up Ford van de Ierse gitarist wijlen Rory Gallagher en Spirit of Radio van Rush. Al bij al toch wel een drie-en-een-halfje waard.
