Underground Resistance - The Final Frontier (1992)

Nummer twee en drie ken ik niet, maar "The Final Frontier" is een prachtige, tijdloze electro-track. Dat dit al uit 1991 is zeg...

Vandaag toevallig op gestuit. Ik ga 'm zodadelijk voor het eerst opzetten!

Dat zijn tracks zoals ik ze zoek. Zware 5 sterren track. Tijdloos inderdaad.

Van Galaxy 2 Galaxy heb ik net trouwens de helft geluisterd. Yum Stoere houding hebben de mannen van het label Underground Resistance ook.

Ja, alhoewel vooral Mad Mike normaal gesproken toch erg rustig en jazzy uit de hoek komt. Vroeger, met Jeff Mills en Robert Hood maakte hij dit album, daar staan nog een aantal hardere raveplaten op.

Dat zal ook wel gelden voor de Acid Rain-albums. Met stoere houding doelde ik eigenlijk op:

We urge you to join the resistance and help us combat the mediocre audio and visual programming that is being fed to the inhabitants of Earth. Underground Resistance is probably the most militantly political outcropping of modern urban American techno. Combining a grubby, four-track aesthetic, an almost strictly DIY business philosophy, and an oppositional, militaristic ethos similar to Public Enemy without the drama (or the familiarity; the members refuse to be photographed without bandanas obscuring their identities), UR have redirected their portion of the Detroit techno legacy to social activist ends, trading mainstream popularity and financial success for independence and self-determination. Begun in the early '90s by second-wave trinity Jeff Mills, "Mad" Mike Banks, and Robert "Noise" Hood, UR adapted the flavor and kick of early Detroit techno to the complex social, political, and economic circumstances in the wake of Reagan-era accelerated inner-city decline, and was formed as an outlet for uncompromising music geared toward awareness and change.

Wel goed zijn die andere nummers van deze single trouwens, vooral ''Entering Quadrant Five'' dan. Ontzettend gaaf acid-rave nummer.

Ja, die boodschappen staan vaak op hun platen. Dat varieert van cryptische filosofische overpeinzingen tot leuzen als "Fuck the Majors!"

Fuck the majors is ook een track trouwens (UR-23 als ik het goed heb). Heel vet nummer is dat, Liam Howlett draaide hem ook wel in mixjes toentertijd...

Voor de liefhebbers van The Final Frontier, moeten (ja, moeten....) ook eens Choice - Acid Eiffel beluisteren. Ook zo'n schoonheid...

Klopt, inderdaad ook een erg mooi nummer

Fantastische track (Final Frontier) die inderdaad zelfs na 15 jaar (!) nog staat als een huis.
Die 303 drums, die prachtige strings, die bubbelende sub!
Goed voorbeeld van electronische muziek die je diep kan raken.

Waanzinnige electro track! The final frontier is wel een van mijn favorieten in het genre, heerlijk duister.

Tracks 2 en 3 zijn voor mij vrij standaard techno tracken. The Final Frontier is inderdaad een waar tijdloos meestwerk.Bizar dat het in 1991 geproduceerd is.

Ik denk dat The Final Frontier mijn favoriete plaat ever is zo'n beetje...

The Final frontier is een zeer vette track. De rest is helaas wat saaiig en standaard. Dat haalt de EP weer wat naar beneden.

Geweldige EP. Met name het titelnummer is bijzonder genietbaar.
