Deze man maakte zelf instrumenten met eigen toonladders en verwerkte die in deze experimentele, klassiekachtige muziek (inclusief klassieke vocalen) die behoorlijk van de hak op de tak vliegt en daardoor lastig in het gehoor ligt. Best een donkere plaat, ook.

Partch zou onder meer van invloed zijn op de latere Tom Waits, volgens een documentaire die ik eens zag, en dan vooral met dit album/stuk.
