De titel dekt niet echt de lading. Deze box bevat niet alleen disco, maar ook soul en funk uit de periode van ruwweg 1975-1985. Daardoor hoor je meer klassieke soul & funk nummers, meer pure disco tot elektronische disco uit de jaren '80. De muziek komt van verschillende labels, zoals bijvoorbeeld Salsoul, Motown en P.I.R. Dit alles zorgt voor redelijk wat afwisseling.
Het jammere is alleen dat er teveel obligate overbekende nummers op staan. Dit in tegenstelling tot het betere volume 2: The Magic of Disco, Vol. 2 (2015) Al 'zappend' staat er echter genoeg interessants op. CD 4 is daarbij de minste van de vier. Zo kan je uit deze 80 tracks zeker 2 goede cd's samenstellen, waardoor het al met al toch best aardig is.
