Nadat On Strange Loops me erg goed bevallen was, kocht ik dit eerdere album van Mithras blind in de hoop dat deze net zo goed zou zijn. Behind the Shadows klinkt behoorlijk hetzelfde als On Strange Loops: spacey death metal met een flinke dosis virtuositeit. Een goed album, dat het voor mij toch niet helemaal haalt bij On Strange Loops. Dat komt deels doordat de albums op elkaar lijken. Behind the Shadows weet me daarom niet te verrassen zoals On Strange Loops dat deed. Daarnaast heeft dit album wat minder momenten die me bijblijven.
