Bij de meeste verzamelaars die er van The Everly Brothers worden samengesteld ligt het zwaartepunt op het Cadence materiaal uit hun succesjaren en de eerste paar jaar dat ze nog hits scoorden bij Warner Brothers. Mijn favoriete periode is die van pakweg 1965-1972, en dat ligt toch een stuk lastiger. Chained To A Memory van Bear Family beslaat echter deze periode en doet dat ook nog eens diepgravend. Er is behoorlijk in de archieven gespit en veel van het materiaal in deze box set is voor het eerst uitgebracht. Veel singles A- en B-kantjes die niet op albums stonden, demos, outtakes en vroege en alternatieve mixes van liedjes. Als ik een minpuntje mag melden over deze verder onberispelijke box dan is dat het live album uit 1970 er naar mijn indruk integraal op is gezet (tracks 109 tot en met 135), naar mijn mening iets te veel eer. Daar had rustig iets uitgehaald mogen worden ter faveure van nog een paar outtakes of demos. Want, hoe ongelooflijk het ook klinkt, er ligt nog meer materiaal op de plank. Erg jammer ook dat deze box nogal aan de prijs is. Nou ja, dan blijft er iets te wensen over.
