Via Nina Simone's Montreux years ben ik bij dit album terecht gekomen.
Hoewel ze een grootheid is ben ik geen fan. Dat komt ook omdat mijn voorkeur meer bij de soul ligt dan bij de blues (en een enkele jazz zangeres als Dinah Washington).
Echter heb ik I got the will altijd een nummer met een geweldige drive gevonden, zowel van Etta als van Otis, ook hier is het weer lekker. Ook de versie van I'd rather go blind doet de klassieker recht.
Maar het hoogtepunt hier is A Lover Is Forever met ingetogen gitaar spel!
Jammer dat Sugar on the floor (erg mooi op het Live in San Francisco album) er niet op staat.
