Deirdre Scanlan - Faces (2008)

Deirdre Scanlan is een Ierse zangeres geboren in Nenagh, North Tipperary. zij was een aantal jaren lead zangeres van de Amerikaans/Ierse traditionele folkband Solas. zij beschikt over een geweldige stem en zingt op dit album 8 nummers in de Engelse taal en 2 (tracks 4 en 10) in het Iers. er ging 5 jaar voorbereiding aan dit album vooraf. het songmateriaal bestaat voornamelijk uit traditionele liederen en ballads, die in fijne arrangementen perfect worden uitgevoerd door professionele gastmuzikanten. de basis bezetting is gitaar, bas en piano, met accenten van o.a. accordeon, whistle (Ierse volksfluit) en fiddle. een consistent album met mooie, intieme songs gezongen vanuit het hart met de krachtige, karakteristieke stem van Deirdre Scanlan. kan dit album iedere folkliefhebber aanraden. album werd geproduceerd door Jim Murray en opgenomen "at Sonas, Killarney"
