Het valt inderdaad niet te ontkennen Edwynn dat hier ogenschijnlijk wat meer kwaliteit te beluisteren viel dan op de 2005-editie.

Inderdaad! Ik kwam deze toevallig 3 weken geleden op Apple Music tegen. Deze heb ik wel merendeels zonder skippen met plezier beluisterd. Eigenlijk zijn alle artiesten goed of prettig bij stem en zijn diverse bands geweldig. Om maar even een greep te noemen: Style Council, Sade (verraste mij misschien wel het meest), Queen (what’s new), Duran Duran, maar ook Collins, Clapton en Dire Straits zijn top.

Dit alles komt waarschijnlijk ook omdat voor de vele artiesten die optraden de mid-eighties de topjaren waren. Veel succesalbums en optredens resulteerde in een benefietconcert waar de vonken vanaf vlogen. In tegenstelling dus tot het concert in 2005…

Het blijft een leuke herinnering aan het verleden. Ik mocht laat opblijven om alles te zien. En veel van dit spul was toen alomtegenwoordig op de radio.
Volgens mij ook dat ik was het ook voor het eerst met de bek los naar Judas Priest en Black Sabbath op de "normale" televisie heb kunnen kijken en dus dientengevolge Duran Duran en U2 langzaamaan mocht vergeten.

De dvd box heb ik een jaar of tig geleden nog gekocht maar daar staat maar een fractie op van wat er op deze geluidsdrager staat.

En zelfs die is weer niet compleet. Zo zien/horen we nog steeds You've Got Another Thing Coming van Priest niet terug. Ook van Bob Dylan blijft hier slechts één nummer over. Van Duran Duran mist View To A Kill (was dat met die lelijke uitglijder van Le Bon?). Madonna deed ook nog een ander nummer buiten deze twee. En zo zal er nog meer zijn weggelaten.

Rick Springfield en Billy Ocean ontbreken al helemaal in het verhaal. Nu zong die laatste maar een beetje met de band mee dus dat kunnen we wel missen. Maar toch vind ik het jammer dat het spulletje niet compleet gemaakt is.

Ik kan me het concert van B.B. King nog herinneren. De Nederlandse tv had King om toestemming gevraagd om zijn concert uit te zenden in het kader van Live Aid. Natuurlijk vond B.B. dat goed.
