Zo. Die staat erop.

Voor zover ik weet een van de meest uitgebreide boxsets ooit met 73! CD's (al komen de Merzbox van Merzbow en The Ultimate Edition van Klaus Schultze ook een heel eind).

Op deze 73 CD's staat alle concerten van de Europese tour van 1972 in zijn geheel op (op een enkel nummer na wellicht, het stamt natuurlijk uit het analoge tijdperk). Feitelijk zijn het er 72 + 1, omdat er ook een CD bijzit van een concert op de Duitse TV.. Al met al kom je dan op ruim 70 uur uit, niet mis dus.

De prijs is ook niet mals, 450 dollar voor de Audio Only editie (de limited edition, met oplage van 7200 was binnen no time uitverkocht), maar je krijgt er wel een hoop voor terug, bovendien is 450 dollar omgerekend zo'n 330 euro, wat neer komt op nog geen 5 euro per CD!

Misschien dat ik em ooit nog op CD ga aanschaffen, maar nu nog even niet. De concerten zijn overigens ook los te koop, maar dat is wel een stuk prijziger, zo'n 30 dollar per stuk.

Hmm ik was uiteraard bekend met de originele "Europe '72", en dacht hier ook eens achteraan te gaan, maar +70 uur aan muziek? Dat is me toch wat te veel van het goede - zelfs bij The Dead...

In heb het grootste deel hiervan inmiddels via Spotify beluisterd (niet alles staat erop) en voor mij zit er wel genoeg variatie in hoor. Alleen de zoveelste versie van The Other One en Dark Star skip ik wel eens als ik er geen zin in heb.

De vier concerten in Strand Lyceum London vind ik het beste. Zijn geloof ik ook de laatste van deze tour. Heb daar een playlist van gemaakt en beluister ik regelmatig.

Het is jammer dat er geen overzicht te creeren is in deze 578 nummers tellende tracklist, waarvan je er 116 mag aankruisen als favoriet.

In ieder geval, deze week de show in Amsterdam beluisterd, Vol. 14 op Spotify. ZEER de moeite waard, misschien wel mijn favoriet van de tour, die sowieso van zeer constant niveau is.
