De West Coast heeft naast heel veel mooie muziek toch ook een hoop slaapverwekkend geneuzel opgeleverd. Maar waarom is het dan goed dat dit soort cd-boxen bestaat? Omdat elke bezitter er toch wel één of twee nieuwe pareltjes op zal ontdekken, mag ik hopen.
Soms kiest Leo hier niet voor de meest voor de hand liggende hit van een bepaalde artiest, maar voor een ander, en vaak beter nummer. Dat pakt vaak goed uit (Judee Sill, Lowell George), maar zijn keuze voor Randy Newmans ‘Rider In The Rain ’ of James Taylors ‘Another Grey Morning ’ snap ik niet. Die hadden nu juist een nummer kunnen leveren dat de boel had kunnen wakker schudden.
