kan niet goed uitleggen waarom, maar dit is mijn favoriete Townes album. kan me niet vinden in de constatering dat dit album slecht geproduceerd zou zijn en hoor hier ook geen "heel ander soort Townes Van Zandt album". heb deze digitally mixed & mastered op cd (1987, Sugar Hill Records) en die klinkt als een klok. ook de opmerking dat de magie van vroeger niet meer aanwezig zou zijn, kan ik niet plaatsen, maar goed meningen verschillen. vind dit album niet onderdoen voor zijn top albums. het is een over de hele linie coherent album met 10 Townes "originals". de accenten die op een aantal nummers door sax en fluit worden aangebracht, vind ik niet storend. ook de bijdragen van Mickey Raphael (harmonica), Mark O'Connor (fiddle, mandolin) en Joey Miskulin (accordion) geven dit album juist extra kleur.
