Als hier iets van pas komt zijn het wel dé rode dansschoentjes.
Tejano, Mariachi, Cuban, Afro-Peruvian, Brazilian, het komt allemaal voorbij en dit alles wordt subliem uitgevoerd door leden van The Texas Tornados, Los Lobos en vele, vele anderen.

dit meesterlijke album beland al 25 jaar lang ieder voorjaar/zomer in mijn speler. ook nu met dit grijze najaarsweer haal je met deze muziek van Los Super Seven het zonnetje in huis. geen "supergroep" maar eerder een gelegenheidsformatie of muziekcollectief destijds bijeengebracht door manager Dan Goodman. het gaat voornamelijk om vertolkingen van authentieke Mexicaanse volksmuziek ofwel regionale stijlen van volksmuziek (bolero, huapango, jarocho en norteno) uitgevoerd door Amerikaanse muzikanten van Mexicaanse komaf en 1 Amerikaan (Joe Ely). traditionele Mexicaanse muziek die de muzikanten in hun jeugd op straat oppikten. het enthousiasme en spelplezier spat uit de speakers. Cesar Rosas en David Hidalgo van Los Lobos zijn de drijvende krachten achter dit album. helaas is de magie van dit 1e album op het 2e album "Canto" waarop o.a. ook Cubaanse en andere invloeden zijn te horen, grotendeels verdwenen. het 3e en laatste album "Heard It on the X" zonder inbreng van Los Lobos is een allegaartje van stijlen en ronduit teleurstellend. van de leden spelen alleen Ruben Ramos en Rick Trevino op alle 3 albums mee.
zoals hierboven opgemerkt, inderdaad muziek om warm van te worden.

"I would hear the music and sneak out onto the street and see these little fireflies of light, which were the cigarettes in the hands of the players, and that was where it was happening. These were just home guys - they picked cotton or whatever and then they'd come home and play the hell out of these old songs". Songs were passed ear to ear, verses added and changed, melodies altered according to the ability and imagination of the players, arrangements shifting as instruments varied, - the musicians' world was an ever-expanding jam session. I learned the chords watching guys' fingers", says Fender. "Most of them never recorded - they just played for the love of it".

Maf. Ik kom net thuis met dit album als ongehoorde buit. Mee gegrist uit een 3e hands bak op de H'dijk. Vanwege de muzikanten. Allen hoog gekwalificeerd in het texmex-genre. En daarbuiten. Ik log in en stuit (echt waar!) bij de updates op dit werkstuk. Toeval bestaat niet. potjandosie natuurlijk weer. 
Bondig en informatief. As usual. Schijf erin. Holy cow.! Wel gehoopt maar niet verwacht. Pan op het vuur. Garides. Met knof en rooie peper. En deze plaat. Om op te warmen. Pasta gaar. Nog maar eens een draaibeurt. Fijn zo.

haha Kalamitsi toeval bestaat inderdaad niet. ik zeg potjandosie nog es aan toe 
vermoed dat je wel kon genieten van dit album en hopelijk ook van de pasta. je hebt wel gelijk de beste van de 3. deze 1e van Los Super Seven is beter dan menig Los Lobos album, maar zoals gezegd is hun 2e album een stuk minder en het 3e album kun je mijn inziens links laten liggen.
vermoed dat je wel kon genieten van dit album en hopelijk ook van de pasta. je hebt wel gelijk de beste van de 3. deze 1e van Los Super Seven is beter dan menig Los Lobos album, maar zoals gezegd is hun 2e album een stuk minder en het 3e album kun je mijn inziens links laten liggen.* denotes required fields.
