Zeer sterke liveplaat dit van Elvis tjokvol met covers waartussen een prachtige, verrassende versie van Bridge over troubled water.

Voor de hardcore Elvis fan die al jaren lang verzamelt, zal deze box qua materiaal weinig of niets nieuws te bieden hebben. Eigenlijk is alles al ooit op bootleg verschenen, maar niet in deze geluidskwaliteit en ook niet met zulk mooi begeleidend artwork.
In de niet aflatende stroom van legale- en minder legale releases van Elvis albums is dit een essentiële, omdat het een mooi compleet document vormt van een kantelpunt in Elvis' carrière.

Na de bioscoopfilm "On tour" zou Elvis eigenlijk nog slechts 1 echt hoogtepunt kennen met het wereldwijd uitgezonden concert "Aloha from Hawaii". Wat volgde was een enorm aantal (allen uitverkochte!) liveconcerten gedurende 4,5 jaren van touren en vooral slecht scorende albums. Niet dat de live optredens slecht waren, integendeel, of dat er tussen de platen geen pareltjes zaten, maar artistiek gezien was Elvis voor het grote publiek niet meer relevant. De massa had al lang en breed prog rock, heavy metal, fusion en disco omarmd.

Inmiddels zelf ook toegevoegd. Kan gebeuren als je zondagochtend nog voor de tweede kop koffie al aan het schrijven bent. Even voor de zekerheid………….
