En the twelve points go to.................

Gisteren The Ark meegemaakt tijdens hun eerste, echte, volledige concert in Nederland (tevens hun enige deze tour) in Waterfront Rotterdam.
The night started at approx 20.30 with a glam rock band from Rotterdam (they're called H.O.T.T. but we can forget about them). I expected it to be 'not so good' and I was right.. It wasn't very special or anything. Then everyone, there were about 100 maybe 150 people, thought The Ark was gonna come on stage, but no, there was a surprise act! Sunflower Caravan! It was a really nice surprise and I forgot all about the terrible show we had just seen. It was a little strange though that they didn't even introduced themselves (at least I didn't hear it, but I knew it must be them 'cause I had already seen some Sunflower Caravan merchandise which I thought was a little odd), afterwards people didn't even knew what they just had seen/heard. But at the end I saw a lot of people (including me) buy their CD single, so they definitely made a good impression.
The Ark didn't come on stage before 22.30 and I was glad I had a place to stay in Rotterdam, 'cause otherwise I'd had to leave right after the first song, I guess.
The first song they played was This piece of poetry is meant to do harm. And the second song was Absolutely no decorum. I was very surprised that so many people knew all the lyrics and sang along, but it was great! Then we got to enjoy Clamour for glamour. During the next song, Father of a son, dedicated to Jepson of course, Ola went backstage and came back through the side door, he jumped on the merchandise table and sang and danced. He ran to the bar at the back of the small venue, where he climbed on and sang and danced. Back through the audience and on the stage again. After that we got a mixture of Deliver us from free will and I pathologize. Next: New Pollution, a song about suicide. After that Ola 'smelled' something (the usual thing foreign artists in The Netherlands just have to comment: our drugs policy.) Ola also said he thought The Netherlands ('what do you say, Holland or The Netherlands?' 'THE NETHERLANDS!' he he) were a decadent and liberal version of Sweden and that they would apply for citizenship in Rotterdam (yeah! But I rather have them in Groningen of course). They played Prayer for the weekend. According to Ola Erasmus Rotterdamus' book (The praise of folly) had evolved into 'the greatest song in the world and it happened to be written by little, little, little me' and so they played It takes a fool to remain sane. Maybe the best moment of the show for me, as it all started with that song 7 years ago. The show was getting to its end as they played One of us is gonna die young and The worrying kind ('Les Pays Bas dix points.. La Suède douze points!' They seem a bit frustrated about the song contest, I wonder why) They left the stage, but as I had a clear view at the set list I knew they were gonna come back. And so they did. Sylvester and Jens first. Martin, Oskar and Leari came from somewhere in the back (I didn't see them until they climbed on the stage) and Ola from the side door in his golden cat suit (how wonderful). They played Let your body decide. We got to request some songs and so they played bits of Rock city wankers (when they stopped playing this song a German guy in the front row kept singing and together with the rest of the audience we finished the song), The most radical thing to do, Hey modern days (my choice) and 2000 light-years of darkness. They were very surprised that we all knew their songs, but 'it must be the internet'. After Calleth you, cometh I the show was over. The show I had waited and hoped for for seven years was over, now I'll probably have to wait another seven years. But it's worth it! (Of course I had already seen them in Sweden a few times (I even moved to Sweden for a year to learn their language) but nothing beats a concert in my own country!)
There is so much more to tell, for example how this guy came up to Ola and wanted to take a picture with him and after that licked Ola's sweaty chest (very disgusting), but you just had to be there. Maybe it's funny to tell you how much I paid for the concert: not even 100 crowns (to be exact: €8) (I really think it's hilarious hahaha)
