Earlier this month, hotly tipped Manchester band THE COURTEENERS released an exclusive limited edition 7-track enhanced CD in Japan entitled "Here Come The Young Men" which includes sold out singles and unreleased tracks 'Cavorting', 'Acrylic' & 'No You Didn't, No You Don't', along with the video for 'Acrylic'. The band are expected to release 'Nineteen Forever' (Polydor) as a new single on 31st March, which will precede their eagerly awaited debut album (possibly to be called "St Jude") which should hit the shops on 7th April. THE COURTEENERS are expected to do in 2008 what ARCTIC MONKEYS did back in 2006 ... become huge! - so get your pre-orders in now ...

Arctics debut album was zeker niet overschat - voor veel kenners en muziek liefhebbers was het toen de beste (debut ) album van het jaar

en The Courteneers gaan ook in die richting met hun debut album ... op 7 april 2008




THE COURTEENERS eagerly awaited debut album is to be called "St Jude" and it will be released by Polydor Records and in the shops as of 7th April. The album will include previous singles 'Cavorting' and 'What Took You So Long?' but will not include previous single and fans favorite 'Acrylic'.
The full track listing for the album is: 'Aftershow','Cavorting','Bide Your Time','What Took You So Long?','Please Don't','If It Wasn't For Me','No You Didn't, No You Don't','How Come','Kings Of The New Road','Not Nineteen Forever','Fallowfield Hillbilly' & 'Yesterday, Today'.

Ze zouden hun eerste NL optreden doen in Amsterdam tijdens de volgende LOndon Calling op weekend van 25 & 26 april maar dan zitten ze al op hun uitverkochte tour van GB, ... dus misschien spelen ze nu de Paradiso op 30 april? ...

Ik heb de nummers Not Nineteen Forever, What Took You So Long?, Slow Down, Acrylic en Kimberley gehoord.... ik kon er niet warm of koud van worden (net als van de Arctics niet).
Ze zijn mij ook iets 'te goed' in hypen daar in de UK.

Klinkt toch heel gezellig. Niet meer en niet minder. Lijkt toch wel wat meer op The Kooks dan op de Arctics.
En in hypen zijn ze natuurlijk altijd al goed in geweest daar in de UK.

The eagerly awaited debut album from THE COURTEENERS is now out. "St. Jude" was released on Polydor Records and within a week it shot straight into the top 5 of the UK Album charts and although still difficult to find in Dutch record shops this should change over the next few weeks (unlike the Dutch charts, the UK charts are compiled from weekly record sales). The band from Manchester will be making their live debut in The Netherlands at a special London Calling event on 30th April at the Paradiso in Amsterdam. We can already guarantee you that come the end of the year they will be massive! The title of the album is Saint Jude, who according to the band is the patron saint of lost causes (although we understand that St Jude is also the patron saint of police officers!) - According to singer Liam Fray the album is therefore "a ray of hope for all the kids who feel that they are a lost cause". Lekker bandje is dit, minder dan Arctic Monkeys, zonder twijfel, maar beter als de gemiddelde indierock band uit Engeland van de laatste tijd. Er ziet wel iets oprechts in hun muziek, wat ik mis bij veel bandjes die door de Engelse media de hemel in gehyped worden.

al hadden ze (Arctics) hun debut album uitgebracht in de zomer was het nog steeds die jaar uitgeroepen als beste (debut) album van het jaar

Over deze debut van The Courteeners gesproken - niet zo makkelijk hier te krijgen omdat nu alleen als import en krijgt pas in NL release date tijdens de zomer maanden (samen met festivals)

THE COURTEENERS als support op de MORRISSEY tour (voor zijn nieuwe album) ...

2009: THE COURTEENERS are joining MORRISSEY as special guests on his North American tour which commences on 19th March - The band will accompany the singer for all 18 shows with the tour finishing mid April in Albuquerque. Morrissey will be promoting his forthcoming studio album "Years of Refusal" while The Courteeners are reported to already be working on their second album, the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album "St Jude" (Polydor - 2008), which is expected to be released towards the end of 2009
