In de jaren '50 verscheen rock 'n roll weinig op LP, maar vooral op single. Albums waren toen nog te duur voor de nog jonge popliefhebber. Het was in die periode voornamelijk jazz en klassiek dat op LP verscheen. Redelijk goed argument, maar slechts deels waar.
Er zijn genoeg zeer gerespecteerde albums van de groten der aarde van de jaren vijftig. Ik zie grootheden als Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino enz. niet terug in de lijstjes van onze MuMe vrienden. Ik zie daarentegen bijna alleen maar jazz albums.
Hier is natuurlijk niets mis mee, ik vind veel jazz ook prachtig.
Zelf heb ik de jaren zestig zeer bewust meegemaakt en ben ik wat betreft de jaren 40 en 50 zeer beinvloed door mijn vader met rock 'n roll muziek.
Jazz ben ik pas op latere leeftijd gaan waarderen.

De albums van Elvis Presley die in de jaren '50 verschenen zijn inderdaad zeer de moeite waard (ik had er enkele op LP, maar verkocht die na het aanschaffen van de 5CD-box "The King of Rock 'n Roll") en ik geloof dat ze nu nog op CD te verkrijgen zijn.
De reguliere albums van de andere rock 'n roll grootheden als Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis ... ik weet niet of ze nog te verkrijgen zijn, of toch moeilijk (in tegenstelling tot jazz-albums uit die tijd die nu heruitgegeven zijn), vandaar dat vele MuMe'ers ze niet kennen. Van die rock 'n roll-artiesten zijn er meer compilatie-albums verschenen, die je wel gemakkelijk kunt krijgen. In ieder geval, van alle popartiesten uit de jaren '50 heb ik enkel compilaties.

We hebben 3 dezelfde Luc, wat komt door verschillende voorkeur in onze topalbums (I guess ), hoewel we in de breedte vaak wel aardig overeenkomen. De drie favo albums die we overeenkomen zijn die van 1963, 1973 en 1997.

Overigens heb ik met Aero 2 dezelfde Favo albums; die van 1965 en....1997.

1989 en 1992 hebben wij ook gemeen stuart.
De albums die bij jou op 1 staan in de jaren 1975, 1977, 1983 en 1986 staan bij mij op nr. 2 van dat jaar.
"OK Computer" is trouwens het favoriete album van de meesten in 1997.

Klopt, dat heb ik over het hoofd gezien; dat maakt dan 5 dezelfde.

Ik moet wel zeggen dat ik bij een aantal jaren mijn keuze soms maar nipt is...het is niet geheel een definitieve lijst.

Bij sommige jaren zoals 1968, 1981, 1994 en 2003 was het voor mij ook zeer nipt. In 1968 waren er 5 albums met 5*, in de 3 andere jaren kwam geen enkele 5*-album voor, maar wel heel wat met 4,5*.
De keuze was gemakkelijk voor de jaren 1979, 1989 en vooral 1997, precies één album met 5*.
Met aERodynamIC heb ik overigens ook 5 albums gemeen.

Volgens MuMe is dit album van 1999

Ik denk dat velen wel achteraf jazz-albums zijn gaan beluisteren, maar geen rock 'n roll. Voor mij geldt in ieder geval dat ik bijvoorbeeld wel Miles Davis ben gaan waarderen en er albums van heb gekocht. Maar om nou Elvis of Little Richard aan te schaffen. Nou nee. Ik heb voldoende aan de beroemde singles die ik van dergelijke mannen ken.

Klopt maar dit heb ik op de site al vaker uitgelegd: ik plaats het in mijn 2000 lijstjes omdat in 1999 het album alleen in IJsland zelf is verschenen en pas in 2000 de rest van de wereld. En in die tijd was het nog niet zo dat je albums via internet kocht dus ligt het anders dan nu b.v. met MGMT of Bon Iver
Op musicmeter hanteren we derhalve de eerste release datum en dan klopt 1999 wel weer.
