)
De mijne is zo:

Ik ben doorgaans geen liefhebber van ballads, vaak zijn ze mij veel te zoet. Toch heb ik, na enig denkwerk, een lijstje kunnen maken. De eerste drie nummers ervan vind ik erg sterk, de rest redelijk tot goed:

3. Thunder – Low Life In High Places
4. Thunder - A Better Man
5. Savatage – All That I Bleed
6. Judas Priest – Before the Dawn

Wat is eigenlijk de definitie van een ballad? Ik zou niet weten waar een grens te trekken.

A ballad is a story in a song, usually a narrative song or poem. It is a rhythmic saga of a past affair, which may be heroic, romantic or satirical, political (affected by the previous three types mentioned, refers to either glorifying the exploits or causes of a particular leader or group, and is typical of totalitarian political systems), almost inevitably catastrophic, which is related in the third person, usually with foreshortened alternating four- and three-stress lines ('ballad meter') and simple repeating rhymes, and often with a refrain. If it is based on political or religious themes, a ballad may then be a version of a hymn. Ballads should not be confused with the ballade, a 14th and 15th century French verse form.
Dat zegt Wikipedia ervan. Ik ga zelf geen top 10 maken, ben niet zo'n fan van ballads over het algemeen.

Niet afgekeken. Ik zie nu pas dat 'Sebastian' al was genoemd door Dim. Erg blij ben ik ook met de eervolle vermelding van Dazzled Kid voor Joan Osborne. Stond ook in mijn streeplijst en is al een favoriet van me sinds meteen na het uitkomen van die prachtige CD.

Mijn zusje van 8 heeft een lijst gemaakt die ik nog beter vind te pruimen dan deze..

ballad vind ik altijd een beetje een vies woord, maar dt komt omdat ik meteen moet denken aan dingen als extreme (more than words) enzo, of erger....the road ahead van die aalgladde nederlanders van city to city. dan is die bart smit top toen van jowietje nog heilig.
