Op 1398 albums gestemd waarvan 730 met ten minste 4* (46x 5*, 224x 4,5*, 460x 4*). De eerste helft van de jaren '80 doet het wel merkelijk beter dan de tweede helft (401 albums met ten minste 4* tegenover 329).

Misschien een beetje een momentopname maar dat zal het altijd wel zijn en de jaren '70 sla ik (begrijpelijk) over, wegens te weinig albums beluisterd (alsook te weinig interesse in atm). Maar ik duik daar wel nog eens in later. De eighties daarentegen lijken me veel beter te liggen, beginnend met Bela Lugosi's Dead van Bauhaus (technisch gezien jaren '70, spiritueel jaren '80 en idem voor Joy Division, de grondleggers van de new wave en post-punk scene, van waar veel andere genres vooruitvloeiden). Er is bovendien nog veel dat ik moet luisteren dat me mogelijk wel ligt (bvb. Sonic Youth, en wat proto-shoegaze en proto-dream pop alsook influencers).

39 albums en EP's beluisterd, en dat is het beste decennium namens de 20ste eeuw voor mij, en in feite is dat nog meer gezien ik alles van MBV heb beluisterd maar daar nog niet op heb gestemd (in plaats daarvan voor de compilatiealbum heb gestemd).

Stone Roses, Kate Bush en Joy Division moet ik meer en aandachtiger beluisteren, en er is nog veel dat ik moet (en wil) beluisteren uit dit decennium. Prince en Sonic Youth wil ik heel graag nog beluister, net zoals alles dat een beetje aansluit bij de genres die hier al vermeld zijn geweest.

Ik had nooit verwacht het te kunnen zeggen - lang had ik heel weinig met de jaren 80 - maar momenteel zit ik echt in een jaren 80-stemming, met op het moment Mike Stipe in mijn oren. Ik had dus ook zin een top10 te maken, waarbij ik me beperk tot 1 album per artiest (anders zou de top10 erg gedomineerd worden door R.E.M., Tom Waits en Talk Talk).
