Owja, in Stay Away komt dat voor.

Het gaat in de meeste gevallen om artiesten die zelf gay zijn en die deze albums blijkbaar noemen. Daarom is het ook wel boeiend om te lezen wat zij daar over zeggen.
Het is dus niet eens zo zeer dat het persé gay getinte albums (whatever that may be) moesten zijn, de keuze was geheel vrij.

This was a key gay album for me because of my insane crush on Stephen Malkmus.

Regisseur John Cameron Mitchell over Neutral Milk Hotel, In the Aeroplane over the Sea:

Another of those albums that launched a thousand bands (like Arcade Fire and Bright Eyes). Every song makes me cry. "Two-Headed Boy" has to be the best.

En over The Velvet Underground:

They say hardly anyone bought this album but everyone who did started a band. It's so gorgeously decadent. Femme Fatale, Venus in Furs, Waiting for the Man. Brilliant, brilliant.

Darren Hayes over Kate Bush, Hounds of Love:

What I love about this album is essentially what I love about being gay. It's eccentric, wildly imaginative, and has a completely naive view of the world in which it exists. In Kate Bush's conceptual world the clouds make magical shapes in the sky, God can change the place of a man and a woman, and innocence is lost only to give way to the beauty of romance. I paint the memory of my coming out in similarly vibrant and violent colors.

I couldn't help being influenced by this truly trailblazing album by the ultimate pop group who was managed by a gay man, Brian Epstein. The world would have missed this cultural watershed without his influence.

Dat er veel albums bij staan die het goed doen in de gay scene of van artiesten die zelf gay zijn (Hüsker Dü, Morrissey, Rufus Wainwright, Elton John etc) is onvermijdelijk, ik zelf vond juist die niet gay-gerelateerde albums wel interessant om in de lijst te terug te zien. Toch wat anders dan Kylie, Madonna of Abba.
