terugkijkend zijn er typische indiebands als the yeah yeah yeahs en the strokes, bands, die dromerige, sprookjesachtige indiemuziek maken als mercury rev en elbow, bands beinvloed door country als fleet foxes en daarnaast bands die echt bijzondere dingen doen als sigur ros en mars volta.

Iron & Wine is natuurlijk sowieso geen band, maar een eenmansproject. Maar dat terzijde, ik ben heel erg benieuwd wat jij onder indie verstaat. Ik bedoel, Coldplay bijvoorbeeld, waarom noem je dat indie?

Eigenlijk is indie nogal een loze term geworden. Indie staat eigenlijk voor independent, en heeft niks met de muziek te maken, maar alles met de manier van muziek uitbrengen (major label? eigen label?). Maar de betekenis van het woord indie is nogal gaan vervagen, en tegenwoordig gebruikt men het ook om, ik vermoed, wat alternatievere rockbands aan te duiden. Maar vaak is het me gewoon niet echt duidelijk wat men met indie bedoelt. Want op de vroege EP's na, heeft Coldplay bijvoorbeeld altijd op major labels gezeten. Alternatief zou ik ze ook niet echt noemen. Dus, leg eens uit.
