'Normaal' had ik 40% van de jaarlijst van OOR - ga ik dit jaar niet redden

Ik heb nog geen lijstje gemaakt, maar zo te zien staan er in de lijst van OOR hooguit 4 die mijn lijstje ook zullen gaan halen.

Die 40% was van toepassing op "in bezit" - ik heb er nu denk ik, met een vluchtige blik, 6 a 7 (van de 25). De lijst over 2014 zal nog lastig genoeg worden; dit weekend net de laatste Boratto gekocht en nog meer moois (Andy Stott en Steffi o.a.), maar Aphex Twin en Flying Lotus laten liggen (vanwege budget).

Hun top 3 vind ik helemaal niks maar vanaf positie 4 is de lijst best aardig met een aantal leuke verrassingen.

Mooi ? Hoewel ik er zelf aan heb bijgedragen vind ik hem eerder wat voorspelbaar. Met Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash, Ryan Adams en The Drive-by Truckers in de Top 10 is de vernieuwing wat ver te zoeken. Wel leuk dat de Jamey Johnson-kloon, Sturgill Simpson, dit jaar met de eerste plaats aan de haal gaat en ....... volkomen terecht natuurlijk!

En Simpson is wel vernieuwend? Het genre dat hierin het meest aan bod komt en ook mijn favoriete genre is is bij uitstek niet vernieuwend. Ik vind het een mooie lijst vanwege een aantal albums die voorbij komen die ook tot mijn favorieten van het afgelopen jaar behoren. Fullbright, DBT, Prophet en ook Simpson en nog een paar anderen. Daar gaat het me om. Meer is het niet. Verder is op elke lijst wel wat aan te merken, zo ook deze. Waarom Williams zo hoog, wat doet de overgewaardeerde Ryan Adams in deze lijst en waarom staat Robert Ellis er niet in? Maar daar gaat het dus even niet om.

Opvallend dat Benji zo laag staat, dat was immers nog de beste van het jaar in die lijst over 2010-2014. En D'Angelo komt net te laat met zijn album om hoog in de top 5 te eindigen.

Weinig vernieuwend ? Niet volgens Sturgill zelf die zijn album 'metamodern sounds in country music' noemde.



Muzikanten als Jamey Johnson en Sturgill Simpson c.s.blazen de belegen Amerikaanse country nieuw leven in. Of zoals NoDepression het schrijft:
