Ik oom niet verder dan:

In the Stone. Jarenlang tune van de verrukkelijke 500

Nu ben ik allesbehalve een EW&F-connaisseur, maar potverdrie, wat is de funky jazzpsychedelica van 'Energy' van het afgefakkelde en neergesabelde tweede album een bijzonder fijne verrassing.
Miles Davis meets Sly anyone? En met de vocalen van een zangeres. Ook nooit geweten.
Het gaat ronde 2 niet halen, maar dankzij dit spelletje heb ik prompt mijn favoriete EW&F-nummer te pakken. Waarvoor dank!
Ik hoor nu ook waarom de oude platen van hen zo impopulair zijn: een behoorlijk andere sound dan wat ze later maakten. Mij bevalt die oude sound beter.
Dus ik vrees dat je met mijn Top 10 niet veel opschiet.

Fantasy en September heb ik simpelweg te vaak gehoord en die horen voor mij niet meer tot hun allerbeste nummers. Dat zou voor Boogie Wonderland eigenlijk ook moeten gelden, maar die blijft toch sprankelen. En als ik September dan toch weer hoor, is die toch ook nog best goed, maar helaas geen plek meer voor.

Hun "recentere" nummers Sunday Morning en System of Survival (80's produkties, you gotta love 'em) bevielen me vanaf de eerste keer al ernstig goed. In the Stone en Let's Groove zijn de andere twee die nooit van hun voetstuk zullen vallen.
