Na het (cult)succes van de prog album KO van enkele jaren geleden is de tijd rijp voor een vervolg!

Om te beginnen zal ik zo 256 albums posten die vorige keer in de tweede ronde stonden. Met een wildcard voor deze platen zijn we vast mooi op weg. Vervolgens mag elke belangstellende 8 progrock- of aanverwante albums plaatsen. Om Titmeisters Obscure Albums KO niet rechts in te halen, stel ik voor dat elke nominatie ten minste 5 stemmen moet hebben.

Verder stel ik voor niet ál te veel te zeuren over of een bepaalde grensgeval-nominatie nu eigenlijk wel prog is; dat is in eerste instantie de verantwoordelijkheid van de nomineerder. Vorige keer zat er ook een maximaal aantal albums per artiest (zes geloof ik). Ik stel voor die regel nu te schrappen.

Omdat de nominaties voor de vorige editie ergens eind 2006 sloten (op één uitzondering na), is er ruimte voor een gezonde portie nominaties uit 2007 en 2008.

Oh ja... degene die de moeite neemt de lijst met eerste 256 namen door te spitten en daar een album met minder dan 5 stemmen tegenkomt mag deze schrappen en een extra nominatie doen.

Edit: niet omdat ik iets tegen Eyestrings heb, maar wel omdat het de eerste band is die ik vind met minder dan vijf stemmen per album: die andere plaat er ook maar uit en Comus - First Utterance erin.

Raar dat je van Styx nou net twee albums kiest die meer mainstream rock dan prog zijn. The Grand Illusion en Pieces of Eight (en alle albums daarvoor) waren betere keuzes geweest. Overigens maar twee albums van Ayreon is ook wel wat mager, zeker als ik zie dat Kate Bush (prog???????) er wel tussenstaat. Van Genesis mis ik ...And then there were three...

Ik vind het wel een lastige trouwens, want wat is prog? Blijkbaar vallen Kate Bush en Radiohead daar ook onder, en die hebben natuurlijk wel wat progressiefs in zich. Maar dat geldt eigenlijk voor een groot deel van mijn 5*-platen ook wel, in dat geval. Anderzijds, als ik hier vrolijk van Built to Spill tot The Decemberists en van Prefab Sprout (Jordan: The Comeback is verdorie een conceptplaat) tot Current 93 ga nomineren vertroebelt het beeld van deze KO nogal...
