Vandaag schoot me opeens een gek idee voor een nieuwe K.O te binnen, en ik vroeg me af of er genoeg animo voor is om het te organiseren.

In 1996 bracht Josh Davis AKA DJ Shadow het album Endtroducing... uit. Dit is het eerste album wat volledig uit samples van andere nummers bestaat. Het album is erg invloedrijk geweest op de Electronic en de Hip-Hop, maar ook is OK Computer van Radiohead sterk beïnvloed door dit album.

De nummers die DJ Shadow in het album samplet zijn niet de standaard nummers die in de Hip-Hop gesampled werden, in tegendeel zelfs. DJ Shadow samplet de meest obscure nummers waarvan bij niemand gehoord heeft. Tussen die onbekende nummers zitten soms ware meesterwerkjes . Neem nou bijvoorbeeld het nummer Sekoilu Seestyy dat in 'midnight in a perfect world' wordt gesampled.

Wie doet er mee met deze muzikale ontdekkingsreis op zoek naar het mooiste nummer dat DJ Shadow op Endtroducing... heeft gesampled?

Leuk dat er al wat mensen enthousiast zijn. Al er nog een paar users bij komen vind ik het wel de moeite waard om het te gaan organiseren .

Wat gaan we doen dan?

Leuk om die samples na te gaan, maar van mij hoeft dat niet zo nodig in een KO...

Hier alvast een handige tool om de samples terug te luisteren en te vergelijken: DJ Shadow | WhoSampled

Een KO. Dat betekent dat er telkens 2 nummers tegen elkaar moeten strijden. Users moeten stemmen welk van de 2 nummers ze beter vinden en het nummer met een bepaald aantal stemmen (Dat hangt van de hoeveelheid users die meedoen af) gaat door naar de volgende ronde. Het andere nummer valt af. In de volgende ronde strijden er weer tekens twee nummers tegen elkaar. Dit blijft net zo lang doorgaan, totdat er op een gegeven moment maar een nummer overblijft.

Ja, dat snap ik ook wel, maar mij lijkt het me juist een extra motiverende factor om de nummers te beluisteren. Ik weet niet of ik het leuk blijf vinden om de nummers te beluisteren als er niet een soort van competitie achter zit .

Goed, laten we maar eens beginnen, dan kijken we wel of er nog wat users bijkomen.
Dj Shadow heeft in totaal 76 verschillende tracks gebuikt om Endtroducing... te maken. Om dit tot het aantal van 64 platen te krijgen spelen we een kleine voorronde. Hier doen 24 tracks aan mee. Door een willekeurige loting is er beslist welke tracks dat zijn.

De volgende tracks doen niet mee aan de voorronde en zijn dus automatisch geplaatst voor ronde 1:
