Time flies when you're having fun, het laatste 'decennium' alweer. Inmiddels hebben we alweer (bijna) zeven van de tien gehad en wordt de 10s-lijst steeds definitiever.

Puur speltechnisch het leukste decennium in ieder geval, want ieder jaar komen er weer nieuwe albums bij. Vooralsnog was het altijd een één-tweetje tussen The Suburbs van Arcade Fire en High Violet van The National (overigens altijd beslist in het voordeel van eerstgenoemde). The War On Drugs, nieuwe albums van de genoemde bands, Nick Cave, alt-J, Steven Wilson, Sufjan Stevens, ik noem even wat grote releases van de afgelopen jaren die niet in de buurt konden komen van de twee. En hoe gaan Kendrick Lamar en Kanye West het doen?

Máár... dit jaar hebben we een weergaloos ontvangen Blackstar van wijlen Bowie én een nieuwe Radiohead die, in tegenstelling tot King of Limbs, heel goed ontvangen is. Wie weet, wie weet...

Ik zal volgend jaar eens kijken of er - na twee gemiste edities nog wat beweging in mijn jaren '00 lijst zit, maar logischerwijs is de jaren '10 lijst verder veruit het beweeglijkst. De plaat van dit jaar is tot nu toe overtuigend van Black Mountain en die laat ik hier dan ook maar patsboem op nummer 3 binnenkomen. Van de recentste worpen van Anekdoten en Steven Wilson (nieuw op 14 en 15) vraag ik me af waarom ik die vorig jaar niet al op de radar had, terwijl de andere nieuwe binnenkomers (16, 17, 18 en 28) al van wat minder recente datum zijn. In het geval van Anathema is het ook een re-entry (2013). Voorts maken First Aid Kit en Beardfish' laatste een flinke sprong opwaarts.
