Ik vind dat er in NL-hiphop genoeg variatie, intellect en creativiteit te vinden is. Artiesten als Typhoon, Opgezwolle, Duvelduvel, Extince, De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig en Blaxtar vind ik in erg goed, en daar kan ik ook voor langere tijd naar luisteren. Daarbij, vind ik hun creativiteit momenteel wel bijna even interessant als de Amerikaanse hiphop, waar de mainstream mij al lang niet meer interessant is. Wel zijn er nog artiesten die inderdaad interessant zijn: MF DOOM, Madlib, Blackalicious, Sage Francis. Maar het gros van het hiphop dat vanuit Amerika ons bereikt vind ik ver onder de maat(Chamillionaire, Dirty South, Ludacris, G-Unit, The Game etc.)

Maar dat is niet het gros. Dat zijn de wappies die je op tv ziet.
Check gasten zoals People Undr The Stairs, Sound Providers, Acces Immortal of Gabriel Teodros en je hoort het verschil.
Check www.ughh.com en zie hoveel er uit komt uit de hiphop scene die voor velen als onbekend worden gezien maar wel degelijk kwaliteit hebben.

Ja, je kan ik elk land zowel slechte als goede artiesten vinden. In Amerika heb je Dirty South, hier heb je die 'D-men' clique (die eigenlijk gewoon Dirty-South wannabe's zijn). Creativiteit is ook gewoon internationaal. Het enige is dat het misschien in Nederhop prominenter is, omdat bijv. word-play makkelijker te herkennen is. Soms zijn woord-grappen voor non-native speakers in het Engels moeilijk te herkennen, hoe goed je Engels ook is. Logisch, omdat je vaak veel typisch Engelse uitspraken e.d. moet weten om ze de variatie daarop te kunnen snappen.

Maar ja, ik houd van beide evenveel. Alhoewel, aangezien hip-hop in Amerika in al wat verdere fase is, kan je daar wat meer uiteenlopende stromingen in de hip-hop vinden, wat ik vaak leuker vind.
