Of eigenlijk een half jaartje te laat.

Dit is het topic van vorig jaar. De uitslag van de meest recente jaren '80 editie volgt vandaag en morgen en dan wordt er begin volgende week gestart met het 2014-topic van de '90s.

Ik dacht dat de jaren 90 al een poosje waren afgelopen.
Bij mij zal mijn terugblik er op slechts marginaal veranderen. Nadat ik in andere topics terug had geblikt op de 70's en de 80's (waarschijnlijk ook verkeerd getimed, maar so be it) voelde ik de behoefte dit ook te doen met de 90's

Bij Moviemeter zijn dit geen seizoen-happenings.

Elk jaar komen deze topic's terug, in (deels) chronobetische volgorde. Oorspronkelijk alleen de jaren '60 t/m de nillies maar ondertussen hebben we ook al een keer of 2 de 50's gedaan.

Ik zie de jaren 90 als een bont gevarieerd muziek decennium. Gedomineerd door (imo) wanstaltige house en redelijk deprimerende maar niet perse slechte rock varianten als grunge en een enkele wat meer obscure band als Morphine die er uit sprong. Voor mij zitten de goede herinneringen in de triphop, hiphop (hoogtijdagen de eerste helft jaren 90) met beperkte mate de neo-soul en acid-jazz en op de dansvloer (maar alleen daar) ook de New jack swing.

Hoe wisselvallig ook. Ik mis die variatie wel in de huidige pop (mainstream radio).

Kleine aanvulling: één van de mooiste muzikale dingen aan de jaren 90, of tenminste een goede samenvatting er van, vond ik De "Rebirth of cool" serie onder 4th & Broadway label.
Totaal onbekend en onbemind hier op MM zo lijkt het.

Als het jazz is ....ja.

Rebirth of cool verwijst wel naar Miles' Birth of Cool, maar deze serie was een mix van hiphop, Acid jazz, triphop en wat electronisch.
Maar je hebt wel gelijk. Mooie top 10 artiesten heb je .
