Óók tien hele mooie nummers, Yak, tien is inderdaad te weinig . Maar heb je niks met Everywhere and his..?

En misschien wat onconventioneel dat ik het een tikje wisselvallige Good News op één heb staan, maar dat album sloeg bij mij zó in destijds dat ik hem tot mijn allerbeste albums ooit moet rekenen. Daarbij staan er ook gewoon enkele absolute wereldnummers op dat plaatje.
Maar de vroegere albums doen wat mij betreft nauwelijks een haar onder voor Good News, ik heb zelfs nog een tijdje TLCW op 1 gehad op deze site.

Willful Suspension of Disbelief en So Much Beauty in Dirt vind ik erg mooie nummers, maar ik ken Everywhere And His Nasty Parlour Tricks eigenlijk niet zo goed. De rest van de Modest Mouse-albums ken ik zo'n beetje van voor tot achter.

Oei, dan mis je in Night On The Sun toch wel één van de allerbeste Modest Mouse-nummers. De lyrics van dat nummer zijn geweldig krachtig (en ook zeer Modest Mouseiaans):

Goede band, waarvan ik helaas nooit de nummers uit elkaar kan houden. Zo kan ik me op dit moment geen enkel nummer van Good News For People Who Love Bad News voor me halen, wat ik toch een goede plaat vind. Top-10 volgt daarom nog wel een keer. En op de één of andere manier dig ik This Is a Long Drive... helemaal niet, en de rest wel. Toch nog maar eens proberen dan.

Dit gevoel ken ik wel, enkel bij The Lonesome Crowded West en We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank heb ik dit niet (dit zijn dan ook niet toevallig mijn twee favorieten). Die twee beginnen ook zo lekker met een stevige binnenkomer. De andere drie zijn ook erg goed, maar ze zijn me soms wat te mak/rustig/kabbelend, en er zijn voor mij minder nummers die er echt uitspringen.

Ben ik toch zeer benieuwd waarom je dat nummer het beste nummer van Modest Mouse vindt.
