De meeste nummers ken ik nog en er zijn verschillende prachtige tussen, maar deze 20 maken de meeste indruk op mij.

Prachtige stemmen, melodie en sfeer, the Beach Boys op hun best.

2. Fairground attraction – Find my love
Een heerlijk fris en zomers nummer, dat rinkelend gitaartje vind ik gewoon hemels.

3. The New seekers – I’d like to teach the world to sing
Ik hou veel van goede close-harmoniezang en dit nummer vind ik gewoon top.

4. Cat Stevens – Father and son
Prachtige zang en tekst van één van de beste en meest succesvolle Britse singer-songwriters jaren '70.

5. The Who – I can see for miles
Eén van de vele klassiekers van één van de grootste rockbands ooit.

6. The Cars – My best friend’s girl
Zeer aanstekelijk en vrolijk nummer in new wave-omgeving.

7. Frank Boeijen groep – Linda
Klassieker in het Nederlandstalige genre, Frank Boeijen bewijst hier weer een prima zanger en songschrijver te zijn.

8. Billy Joel – Honesty
Prachtige pianoballad van Billy Joel zoals hij alleen dat kan.

9. Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Tich – Hideaway
Dave Dee overleed gisteren helaas, maar dit nummer zal ik nooit vergeten, die is prima sixtiespop op zijn vrolijkst.

10. The Blue nile – Tinseltown in the rain
Vergeten pareltje uit de jaren '80 van eendagsvlieg.

11. Chris Rea – I can hear your heart beat
Tijdloze song van een andere Britse singer-songwriter met aparte stem.

12. Eurythmics – Who’s that girl
De soulvolle zang Annie Lennox en de synthi-klanken van Dave Stewart komen in dit nummer helemaal tot hun recht.

13. T.Rex – Jeepster
Klassieker van één van de glamrockpioniers.

14. The Doobie brothers – China groove
Prima soulgetint rocknummer uit de jaren '70 van Amerikaanse topband.

15. Sade – Hang on to your love
De zwoele sound van Sade mag ik nog steeds graag horen en dit is één van haar beste nummers.

16. Yvonne Elliman – If I can’t have you
The Bee Gees schreven ook hits voor anderen en dit is een prima popsong met disco-tintje.

17. The Kinks – Everybody’s gonna be happy
Minder succesvol rocknummer van the Kinks, maar gewoon top. Werd ook gecoverd door Queens of the Stone Age.

18. The Motors – Airport
Eendagsvlieg maar prima nummer met passende synths.

19. Stevie Wonder – You haven’t done nothing
Licht jazzy en funky getinte soulsong van één van de soul-grootheden.

Rauwe stax-soul op zijn best!

Van de aardbodem verdwenen. Ik heb single en album van deze act. Ik wil het album wel toevoegen maar ik kan NIETS vinden van deze band op het hele internet. Het nummer is weliswaar een traditional, maar dat heb ik dan toen toch maar leren kennen dankzij ´Chorale´. Zoek maar eens op riu riu chiu voor diverse andere versies.


2. Stevie Wonder - You haven´t done nothing
Fantastisch funknummer. Bijna net zo mooi als ´Superstitious´

3. Nitty gritty dirt band - Mr. Bojangles
Mooie countryclassic van deze supergroep

4. Sam Brown - This feeling
Vergeten sterretje maar dit vond ik toen heel mooi.

5. Patrick Cowley - Menergy
Superdisco van de te vroeg overleden trendsetter in de dance.

6. Gary Moore & Phil Lynott - Out in the fields
Mooie combi van power en passie. Hoor je maar weinig in het heavy genre.

7. B.J. Thomas - Raindrops keep falling on my head
Klassieker die iedereen kent (toch?) waar nog maar kort geleden het vinylsingletje van heb bemachtigd. Uit een van mijn favoriete films trouwens.

8. Crown heights affair - Dancin
Mooie discofunk van in Nederland onbekend gebleven band.

9. Yvonne Elliman - If I can´t have you
Lief liedje uit Saturday Night fever

10. Cat Stevens - Father and son
Niet mijn favoriet van hem, maat t is wel Cat Stevens natuurlijk. En een hit.

Zeker in de tweede helft van het lijstje komt mijn voorkeur voor leuke-radioplaatjes-die-het-altijd-goed-doen om de hoek kijken. Ik heb toch wel een zwak voor een hoop van die nummers, al zitten er nummers bij die ik in geen 20 jaar meer heb gehoord.

Maar de echte klassiekers staan wat mij betreft - terecht natuurlijk - bij de eerste tien.
