Ik ben het eens met wat Kaztor ook al zei in het topic van UK hits van 1983 - De Engelse hitlijsten zijn veel interessanter dan de Nederlandse. Maar misschien komt dat ook omdat artiesten van eigen bodem ('nationaal product') nu eenmaal makkelijker in de vaderlandse lijst doordringen. Tegenover elke Jan Smit of Doe Maar plaatst Engeland zijn eigen Jam of Big Country. Tja, zou elk land dan toch de artiesten krijgen die het verdient?

De Engelse hitlijsten vind ik ook interessanter, ik hou niet zo van (Nederlandstalige) schlagers maar er zal hier altijd een publiek voor zijn.
In de jaren '80 stonden André Hazes (had in Nederland evenveel hits als Michael Jackson), Koos Alberts en Danny de Munk vaak in de hitlijsten, nu zijn dat Frans Bauer en Jan Smit.

Schrikbarend, maar veelzeggend...

Maar ik kan niet ontkennen: er is een publiek voor. Een groot publiek zelfs.

Hier is ook heel makkelijk een top 40 van te maken (heel veel goede indie hits dat hier nooit toendertijd bekend waren, of gespeeld werden op de radio in NL ... en dat blijft een schande!)

heeft ook in mijn opinie zeer weinig te maken met die "artiesten van eigen bodem" theory - maar veel meer te maken in NL met die "oud en out of touch radio DJs die hun positie niet kwijt willen" (tot eind jaren 90 was er geen internet en radio DJs hadden het te vertellen)


hier is zelfs nog meer bewijs dat ook in de jaren 80 de programmeurs en radio DJs hier in nederland helemaal achter liepen ... zo is dat ook in de jaren 90 gegaan met wat ze de publiek in NL lieten horen, en in deze decenium is dat ook zo geweest (er zal vast wel in 7 of 8 jaar tijd hier op music meter zo`n topic lopen met alle hits in GB van deze decenium dat niet in nederland bekend werden )

wat me ook opvalt met deze topic - 1984 - dat niemand heeft tot nu toe The Smiths (met Sandie Shaw op vocals) in hun lijst staan? - is dat omdat Hand In Glove alleen achter Sandie Shaw stond in de lijst?

ook opvallend (maar geen verassing) dat The Smiths nooit in de NL hit of tip parade kwamen met hun singles uit 1984, en dat terwijl muziek blad OOR nu probeert te beweren dat "The Queen Is Dead" (1986) nu ineens een van de beste albums ooit is of was!?! Bullshit natuurlijk want toen (in de jaren 80) gaf bladeren als OOR geen aandacht aan The Smiths, maar nu dat ze naast de boot zijn gevallen beweren ze nu dat ze altijd ze goed hadden gevonden! ... doet me ook gelijk denken aan al die mensen die nu beweren dat ze vanaf het begin bij de punk scene waren in de jaren 70 terwijl ik nog weet dat 99.9999% van de nederlands bevolking nooit van punk of bands als SEx PIstols hadden gehoord in 77 of 78 omdat ze blijkbaar te druk waren met hun Boney M collections of wat 70s DJ Ad Visser hun te vertellen had!!

Het is altijd zo geweest dat het Europese vasteland achterliep op de trends die in de UK ontstonden.
De Beatlemania brak pas in Europa (en de VS) los een jaar nadat the Beatles de UK reeds in hun greep hadden. In 1984 hadden the Smiths in de UK een aantal hits, ik geloof dat ze dat jaar werden uitgeroepen tot beste band, pas in 1986 kwam het succes overwaaien naar de rest van Europa.

Nederland heeft nu eenmaal een grote traditie van cabaret en levensliederen en er zullen altijd van dit soort liedjes in de hitlijsten terechtkomen, of je ervan houdt of niet. In de jaren '60 vind je naast the Beatles en the Stones ook nog Heintje, de Heikrekels, Willeke Alberti, Tony Bass ...
