Kijkend naar m'n cd kast een lijst met logische artiesten, de kast staat er vol mee
Aangezien ik er voor gekozen heb om van elke artiest maar 1 album in de lijst te zetten (behalve bij mijn favoriete band kon ik niet kiezen) zijn albums als Sign 'o' The Times, Purple Rain, ...But Seriously, A Pagan Place, Document, Lifes Rich Pageant, The Seeds of Love, Sparkle in the Rain, Script for a Jester's Tear, Misplaced Childhood en Into The Fire van deze artiesten afgevallen. Veel goede muziek dus in 10 jaar.

NET buiten de boot vielen ook albums zoals Duke van Genesis, Graceland van Paul Simon, Ocean Rain van Echo & The Bunnymen, Diesel and Dust van Midnight Oil, Toto IV, So van Peter Gabriel, Scoundrel Days van a-ha en Triumph van The Jacksons. En van artiesten zoals The Cure, Talk Talk, INXS en The Smiths vind ik de Best Of's briljant, maar niet 1 heel album. En best of's horen niet in deze lijst.

Helden uit de jaren '70 zoals Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Queen, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder en Neil Young komen in deze lijst niet meer terug. Ze worden compleet overschaduwd door de nieuwe garde.

Van mijn jaren '80 collectie beluister ik Cupid & Psyche'85 van Scritti Politti zo regelmatig, dat ik niet meer om dit album heen kan en besloot om deze op de 1e plaats te zetten. Maar als ik binnenkort een King Crimson of een fusionperiode mee maak, dan kan er weer stuivertje gewisseld worden...maar ook weer niet voor lang...Cupid & Psyche'85 heeft mijn muzikale wereldje toch wel bepaald hoor!

80's blijven toch mijn minst favoriete decennium. Dat komt vooral omdat ik de mainstream en rockmuziek uit de jaren '80 grotendeels oninteressant vind (U2, Simple Minds, Michael Jackson, Prince, Smiths, Talk Talk, Guns 'N' Roses, R.E.M.). In de begin jaren '80 vind ik nog wel interessant vanwege de postpunk/wave (beslaat ook een groot deel van mijn lijst) en aan het eind van de jaren '80 kwamen genres als electronic, hiphop en postrock (wat een groot deel van mijn jaren '90 lijst zal beslaan) op, maar de midden 80's is wat mij betreft armoe troef...

De jaren ´80 zijn qua muziek echt compleet niet mijn ding. De gitaarbands die toen opkwamen zoals Sonic Youth en Pixies zijn wel mijn ding. Bij de jaren ´90 kan ik met gemak een top 20 maken.

Madame Caballé is monster noch rat maar anno 1988 de grootste operadiva op aarde die een revolutionaire collaboratie aanging met haar equivalent uit de rockmuziek. Iets dat o.m. resulteerde in bovengenoemd album dat op MuMe ontstellend onderbelicht is. Gelukkig leent dit topic zich bij uitstek om deze mijlpaal in de popgeschiedenis terug in de spotlights te positioneren.

Helaas geen jazz van mijn kant, daar ken ik helaas nog niet veel van uit de 80's, al zijn er veel mooie werkjes gemaakt. Ik ben ook nog niet echt actief met het ontdekken van alternatieve muziek uit de 80's, maar nog steeds een mooi gevarieerd lijstje. Elke artiest slechts 1 keer genoemt.

Hij bedoelt dat je haar naam verkeerd schrijft, je schrijft het als Montserrat.

Ik heb haar naam hier nimmer verkeerd geschreven. Ranboy appeleerde aan monster en rat, die als samentrekking haar voornaam vormen, maar allesbehalve typerend zijn voor haar uiterlijk. Een ietwat afgezaagd gebbetje, maar we houden 'em erin. Het is tenslotte feest.

Toch wel...

Disintegration gaat het echt te goed doen Een van de mindere Cure-tjes.

Gezien je stemmen zijn er hooguit 2 The Cure-platen die je beter vindt. En al zou dat zijn, een 4,0* voor een plaat vind ik zeker niet verkeerd. Dat The Cure de top 10 gaat halen, kan ik je ook nu alvast vertellen.

. Vandaag weer eens gedraaid en die wordt zeker top 3 bij mij.

Mooie plaat inderdaad, gaat het nog wel goed denk ik.
