Casartelli natuurlijk is dat ook allemaal even legaal, maar ik hekel dus de verschrikkelijke hypocriete persoon Neil Young. Het is hem enkel allemaal te doen om de Pono (middel om zijn zakken nog meer te vullen) waarvan aantoonbaar bewezen is dat de muziekervaring minder is dan gewoon via een iPhone met goede oordoppen. Mensen misleiden om zodoende meer geld aan ze te kunnen verdienen, dat vind ik ontzettend laag.

Op zich is allemaal legaal en verdedigbaar maar er zit wel een luchtje aan het verhaal van Young m.b.t. het mislukte Pono gebeuren

Maar als Young geld had willen verdienen, dan was hij na zijn succesjaren niet van die vreemde albums gaan maken. Zoals nu ook weer, the moment we speak. Dat is geen muziek maken om te cashen.

Ik zou liever ook willen dat ik het altijd los van elkaar kan zien en dat een eventuele negatieve persoonlijkheid van de maker mij niet hindert in het waarderen van muziek. Soms lukt dat wel en soms lukt dat niet. Bij Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon) kon ik lange tijd zijn muziek volledig loskoppelen van zijn persoon maar sinds hij onlangs zich weer zo idioot heeft gedragen begin ik dat toch steeds lastiger te vinden. Ik vind het knap als anderen daar in hun muziekbeleving helemaal ongevoelig voor kunnen zijn.

Als Neil Young daadwerkelijk niet goed kan luisteren naar 320 kbps mp3-bestanden is er iets goed mis met zijn gehoor. Zoals onlangs al in eerste topics is besproken is het kwaliteitsverschil ten opzichte van lossless marginaal en voor de meeste luisteraars niet of nauwelijks waarneembaar.

En wie staat daar op 11, 21 en 24 bij laxus11...

laxus11 haalt waarschijnlijk in zijn eentje de gemiddelde leeftijd dik onder de 1986.

Toch knap als het jongste album in je lijst bijna 2 jaar voor je geboortedag is uitgebracht.

@Sjeflijst - wanneer moet de lijst uiterlijk binnen zijn? Voor mij is het toch wel een kwestie van "kill your darlings" en ik twijfel nog steeds ...

Ik geloof niet dat het Neil Young om het geld te doen is. In zijn hele carrière is hij altijd zijn eigen gang gegaan. Zelfs als mensen hem voor gek verklaarde (ditch-trilogie, Geffen-years bijvoorbeeld). Een handige eigenschap als muzikant/kunstenaar waar schoonheid een "in the eyes of the beholder" dingtje is. Een minder handige eigenschap als het gaat om objectief verifieerbare gegevens. Om een lang verhaal kort te maken; de beste kerel is gewoonweg stronteigenwijs en wellicht ook een beetje uit de tijd.

Toch wel bijzonder dat alles steeds gekozen wordt. Wel jammer dat de 50's albums het zo matig doen. Onbekend maakt onbemind?

Ik moet al nadenken als je me vraagt een artiest uit de 50's te noemen, maar dat ben ik dan. Verder volkomen logisch lijkt me. In de top-250 is dat decennium ook het slechtst vertegenwoordigd.

Het enige album met een substantieel stemmenaantal is Kind of Blue. Niet voor niets ook het enige 50s-album dat ooit in de top 50 stond en ook nu weer veruit het best scorende album uit de fifties is. Sterker nog, alle overige 50s-albums staan niet eens bij de bovenste 200.

Dat gezegd hebbende, is het vooral Somethin' Else die wat mij betreft teleurstellend scoort. Een zeer hoog gemiddelde (4,25*) en bijna 300 stemmen. Vergelijk dat met bv. The Hurting (Tears for Fears), The Modern Dance (Pere Ubu) en Souvlaki (Slowdive). Allen minder stemmen en een aanzienlijk lager gemiddelde; echter wel 100-150 plekken hoger te vinden.

Charles Mingus en John Coltrane hebben ook nog wat 200+-stemmen die meedoen, maar hebben tegelijkertijd ook nog (o.a.) Black Saint and the Sinner Lady en A Love Supreme die meedoen.
