Waarvan akte, maar de door jouw genoemde albums (waarvan ik er zelf ook een aantal erg goed vind) voldoen simpelweg niet aan de eerder genoemde criteria. Sterker nog, de meesten komen niet eens aan de 10 stemmen, laat staan 50.

Sorry, ik had de criteria niet gelezen, Chevy. Het is jammer dat er zo weinig belangstelling is voor bijvoorbeeld Two wolves van Marry Waterson. Het album kan zich met het grootste gemak meten met het allerbeste wat er in het genre de laatste tientallen jaren verschenen is. Onbekend maakt onbemind.

Nu wil ik de genoemde criteria zeker niet heiligmakend verklaren (zie bv. eerder genoemde opmerkingen over neo-folk), maar ik hoop dat het resultaat iets verder gaat dan persoonlijke smaak.

Dus mochten Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker (om maar gelijk een persoonlijke favoriet te noemen) wel degelijk een (op MuMe miskende) moderne folkklassieker zijn, dan wil ik dat graag horen en neem ik ze op in de lijst. Dat is precies de reden dat ik nu aan jullie vraag wat er nog ontbreekt.

Via RYM kwam ik nog op: Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man - Out of Season (2002)

Dit album behaalde bijvoorbeeld tot nu toe maar 23 stemmen, maar behoort volgens mij ook tot de absolute toppers in het genre. Dame met alleen gitaar en lo fi. Ook voor deze artiest geldt, onbekend maakt onbemind

Sodeju wat een lijst. Veel bekende albums. Van de neofolk albums ken ik nog niks. Leuk om eens in te duiken. Altijd bijzonder om te zien hoeveel moeite liefhebbers doen om dit soort lijsten samen te stellen. chevy93 toch

Oké, volgens mij zijn de meeste albums wel genoemd. Zoals gezegd hoop ik geen lijst met albums te creëren, maar een lijst met nummers. Bij alle 310 albums heb ik gekeken wat de populairste nummers zijn. Met de volgende verdeelsleutel heb ik vervolgens de bovenste X daarvan genomen:
- Van alle albums het nummer dat als vaakst aangeklikt is als favoriet
- Albums met 100 of meer stemmen en 3,85* of hoger ook de tweede favoriet
- Albums met 250 of meer stemmen en 4,00* of hoger ook de derde favoriet
- Albums met 500 of meer stemmen en nog geen drie nummers krijgen er eentje extra.

In de post hieronder is het resultaat te vinden (439 nummers). Deze lijst zou ik graag aanvullen met nummers die niet mogen ontbreken in de lijst, maar blijkbaar op een niet op een heel goed/populair album staan. Harde criteria vormen is lastig, dus ga ik volledig uit van jullie beoordeling.

Een voorbeeld waar ik zelf aan moet denken is My Silver Lining van First Aid Kit. Even los van de discussie of dat nummer niet meer pop dan folk is.

Iedere indeling is arbitrair, maar als je met zo'n overzicht komt word ik wel benieuwd naar je omschrijving van het begrip 'folk'. Hier staan toch nogal wat 'onechte' (klein-)kinderen van Richard Thompson en Joan Baez en er ontbreken veel albums die in mijn verzameling het etiketje 'folk' al lang met gepaste trots dragen. Moet ik die nou allemaal gaan hernoemen?

Zoals die gehanteerd wordt hier op MusicMeter.

Beiden hebben tot nu toe niet aan de (album)criteria voldaan. Of ik begrijp je verkeerd.

Je moet niets.

... Goed, dat je zo streng bent.

Met de huidige criteria kwam ik al tot ruim 300 albums. Ik moet ergens een (arbitraire) grens leggen. Mijns inziens was deze grens juist het tegenovergestelde van streng.

Vervolgens zijn er nog albums (vooral in subgenres, zoals neofolk) die niet tot de criteria komen, maar wel degelijk tot moderne folkklassiekers gerekend kunnen worden. Daarbij heb ik een beroep gedaan op jullie. Vervolgens zijn daar weer redelijk wat albums genoemd die ik toegevoegd heb.

Nu ben ik benieuwd of andere mensen nog specifiek nummers weten die niet op veel en/of goed gewaardeerde albums staan, maar als nummer wel in de lijst zouden 'moeten'. Ik vermoed weinig, maar wie weet...

Ik maak deze lijst vooral voor mezelf en als er mensen daaraan mee willen helpen, graag. Als men dat niet wilt, om welke reden dan ook, geen probleem.

Chevy, je zou de albums van Het Zesde Metaal, Eefje en Woodkid ook nog toevoegen toch? Als folkpop er ook bij hoort.

In de eerste plaats (indie) folkpop en ook een beetje country wel. Hoort er zeker bij.

Even melden dat ik hier zeker nog mee bezig ben. Bovenstaande nummers van Co Jackso heb ik toegevoegd en de lijst is nu 503 nummers lang.

Eigenlijk wilde ik hier een Spotify-lijst van maken, maar ik zag een tijdje terug al dat de site waarmee ik dat heel handig zou gaan doen niet meer werkt sinds Spotify iets veranderd heeft in haar code(s). Deze site was: Ivy - Import your playlists into Spotify - ivyishere.org

Aangezien ik het wel erg veel werk vind om handmatig 500+ Spotify-links op te zoeken, ligt het 'project' tot nader orde stil. Daarbij aangetekend dat die uitgebreide Spotify-lijst voor mij wel een soort eindpunt was. Met die lijst zou ik dan weer de komende maanden zoet zijn.

Hoewel ik natuurlijk niet vergeten ben dat liefst tweemaal een poging tot indienen van een liedje van Cornelis Vreeswijk door jou genegeerd werd (niet eens een reactie), toch gefeliciteerd met je doorzettingsvermogen en de prachtige Spotifylijst, chevy93.
Fijn om eens wat uit na te luisteren.

Dat nummer komt uit 1981? Nogal logisch dan dat het niet in deze lijst wordt opgenomen. ?

Wat Gretz zegt. Cornelis Vreeswijk heeft deze eeuw niet eens geleefd. Laat staan een nummer uitgebracht wat als een moderne (semi-)folkklassieker bestempeld kan worden.

Overigens kan de Spotify-lijst zeker nog aangevuld worden.
Zo zit ik erover na te denken om de lijst aan te vullen met country/americana.
