Net als dat The Beatles de band van John Lennon is voor zijn solodebuut. En nu hou ik erover op want ik heb nuttiger dingen te doen dan iets wat recht is nog rechter lullen.

Precies, Guus Meeuwis & Vagant is een heel goed voorbeeld. Guus Meeuwis maakte toch niet zijn debuut bij zijn eerste single zonder Vagant? Een solodebuut na echt lid van een band te zijn geweest vind ik dan toch anders, maar als het uitgebracht is als 'Otis Redding & the Pinetoppers' zou ik het gewoon als single van Otis rekenen. Verder geef ik niet zoveel om bijdehand doen, ik probeer het gewoon duidelijk te krijgen.

Dit is wel echt net een KO waarbij het nomineren voor heel veel discussieren en gedoe kan zorgen. Ik denk dat er bij Otis voor en tegens te geven zijn. Ik kan me voorstellen dat The Pinetoppers in 1961 p, na drie jaar, ondergeschikt aan Otis geraakt waren en ten tijde van Fat Gal dus meer een begeleidingsband waren. Dat is namelijk vaak het geval als de frontman expliciet op de hoes wordt genoemd. Dat is ook precies hetgene waar ik vanuit kan gaan, naast de woorden van Edgar. Ik heb er zelf nogal een handje van om alles zo correct mogelijk te proberen te doen, maar hier hebben we een vaag gebied bereikt. Daarom probeerde ik dus uit te gaan van de informatie die ik van mijn beschikking had. Blijkbaar heb ik je, Edgar, daar nogal mee getriggered. Sorry daarvoor dan. Ik kan me ook prima in Geerts besluit vinden om These Arms of Mine gewoon mee te laten doen.

Geen probleem natuurlijk als je het even navraagt omdat je ergens aan twijfelt. Maar, als ik dan eerst uitleg dat het de band is waarin hij speelde voor zijn debuut en dat later ook nog onderbouw met foto's dan is het inderdaad ietwat vervelend als je dat in twijfel blijft trekken . Maar goed, zand erover en door. Bovendien is het inderdaad fijn om een gedegen lijst te creëren.
