Hij drong zelf voor dus dan doe ik het ook. Op Wikipedia vond ik een overzicht van de meest gestreamde songs op Spotify per releasejaar, vanaf 1975. Vond ik wel aardig, niet de grootste hits van die tijd, maar wat men sinds de komst van Spotify het meest draait. Het zijn natuurlijk wel vrijwel allemaal grote hits maar welke hebben het beste de tand des tijds doorstaan?
Ik vermeld ook nog de hoogste positie in de Top 40.

1990 Band scoorde na zo’n tien jaar ineens weer een grote hit. Clip is ook wel iconisch.
1992 Band is zelf wel klaar met het nummer en speelt het zelden nog.
1998 Filmsoundtrack.
1999 “The song is mainly about the dark side of Hollywood and the export of culture through the movie industry.”
2000 De grote doorbraakhit.
2001 De band had eerst een andere titel in gedachten maar pasten het aan zodat het radiovriendelijker zou zijn. Terwijl het toch niet echt radiovriendelijke muziek is. Dit leidde blijkbaar tot een nogal willekeurige, absurde titel.
2003 Het favoriete lied van James Blunt. Oké, en nu iets waar je wel wat aan hebt: “Lyrically, XXX depicts the jealousy and paranoia of a man who suspects his significant other is cheating on him. “
