Miles Davis. Zijn persoonlijkheid wil nog wel eens ter discussie staan, zijn muzikale kwaliteiten absoluut niet. Een trompettist met een eigen geluid, maar ook een vaardig componist en een bandleider met een oog voor talent.

Davis was sleutelfiguur in op zijn minst drie muzikale stromingen (modale jazz, cooljazz en jazzrock) en heeft een oeuvre van al snel een plaat of zeventig, inclusief het best-verkochte jazz-album allertijden. Op basis van dit soort kenmerken is het moeilijk om de trompettist niet als de grootste jazzartiest ooit te zien.

De hoogste tijd in ieder geval voor een Artiesten K.O.-editie.

Ik heb me hierbij heel erg beperkt tot slechts 64 nummers, wat neerkomt op 1, 2 of 3 nummers per album, al naar gelang het aantal stemmen dat de plaat hier op MusicMeter heeft. Footprints is inderdaad een Shorter-klassieker, een van de mooiste die er zijn. Maar ik geef wel de voorkeur aan Wayne's eigen versie en bovendien, we hebben het hier wel over So What, hè, ruim zestig jaar na dato nog steeds geniaal.

Begin te begrijpen waarom Brunniepoo je niet heeft getagd.

Hahaha, de grote baas stemde zelf ook op So What, hè?

3-3 , al is de Shorter-versie nog beterder in mijn beleving.
