Nu er een Metal Knock Out bezig is, vind ik ook dat er een Punk Knock-Out mag zijn. (discriminatie vermijden )

Ik heb alle soorten punk genres toegelaten: van Ska tot Emo en van Hardcore tot Pop Punk. Een vrij ruime keuze dus hoewel er toch wel veel onbekende bands bij staan.

Dit is mijn voorlopige lijst; als iemand een band mist of denkt dat deze niet in de lijst hoort te staan, zeg het mij! Momenteel zijn het 208 bands maar dit mogen er uiteraard meer worden, ik hoop een definitieve lijst te hebben over een tiental-dagen. het niks-met-punk-te-maken-lijstje van Lying Mouth kan idd vervangen worden door bands die wel degelijk iets met 'punk' te maken hebben of hadden...
grondleggers van de anarcho-punk 'conflict' en 'crass' kunnen in die lijst absoluut niet ontbreken, zoals vele anderen

Helemaal mee eens, ben het ook compleet eens met de lijst toevoegingen (Devo! Wire! Agnostic Front! etc.!) - stop die erin en haal de niet-punk eruit en we zijn al goed op weg! Rites of Spring mag er overigens best inblijven, want da's toch echt punk, w.m.b.. Circle Takes The Square is meer hardcore, maar op zich punkig, en The Get Up Kids is natuurlijk emo/poppunk - dus op zich een terecht plaatsing. Ik heb er niks mee, maar ik vind de plaatsing van The Get Up Kids vele malen logischer dan die van een Weezer of Courtney Love.

Ik zou overigens graag Youth of Today nog in de lijst zien, evenals wellicht Battery, Snapcase, Mohinder en Heroin.

niet dat TOTENMOND in de punk-lijst moet... maar even een hedendaagse punk/metal-band promoten die écht de moeite loont kan ik toch niet laten... auf dem mond ein feuer ! ! ! ! ! !

Haal Caliban er ook maar uit, da's gewoon hardcore metal. Dat heeft op de roots na weinig meer met punk te maken.

Mooie lijst, maar of dit nou punk is... (het blijft moeilijk die scheidslijnen, ik weet het)

Zeker wel of op zijn minst post-punk (wat naar mijn idee heel wat meer met punk te maken heeft dan de ska, emo en indie waar de oorspronkelijke lijst vol mee staat).

Bands als Joy Division en Gang of Four, The Pogues en Wire hebben vanuit de punk hun muziek verder ontwikkeld maar qua teksten en attitude zijn ze altijd met 2 benen in de punk blijven staan.

Bands als The Fall en Blondie hebben misschien een (groot) deel van hun carriere andere muziek gemaakt maar zijn toch echt als punk band begonnen.

Overigens worden op Allmusic alle genoemde band tot het punk en/of post-punk genre gerekend itt die bands die er wat mij betreft af kunnen.

De enige band van dit lijstje die volgens mij betwistbaar is zijn The Thermals.
