Ik zie nu pas dat voor ´Love Sensation´ de 2006 versie is gelinkt. ik wist helemaal niet dat ie opnieuw was uitgebracht. In essentie is de plaat ook niet zo veranderd. Wel een stuk sneller, maar het gaat hier om de stem natuurlijk. Het ongegeneerde uitschreeuwen van de tekst is iets wat je tegenwoordig nauwelijks meer hoort in de (mellow) dance. Het is ook een van de aantrekkelijkheden van ´de grote broer´ van dit nummer: Dan Hartman´s ´Relight my Fire´. Voor wie het nog niet wist is het misschien een ontzettende ´oh ja´: inderdaad dezelfde zangeres.

Het platte en decadente van Magnifique heb ik altijd geweldig mooi gevonden.
In the break " Oooh that feels Goood...." (tussen 3´ en 3´20´´ zit een perfect moment om te mixen met Sylvester´s ´Mighty Real´.

Nog maar weer eens ´ik kan het niet laten´ comments

Feestelijk filmpje bij Narada Michael Walden! Net iets leuker dan Eartha Kitt, wat als curiositeit toch ook wel speciaal was; de ´oma´ die nog even een hitje meepikte, meer dan 20 jaren na de hoogtijdagen. Op Youtube heb ik net nog een paar oude filmpjes van haar bekeken.

Kat Mandu´s ´The Break´ heb ik altijd wel apart gevonden; weinig wat er op lijkt, terwijl je zou denken dat zoiets wel uitgemolken zou worden. Echt instrumentale disco was er ook niet zo heel veel zoals dat nu bijvoorbeeld wel is in de trance. Na Kat Mandu ging producer/arrangeur Lepage verder met Lime.

Bijzonder grappig is de loting in paar 96, waarbij de Ritchie Family me toch veel feestlijker en warmer klinkt dan de Stars on 45, waar niets origineels meer in zit. Mooi moment om nog maar eens te zeggen dat Stars on 45 feitelijk een cover is van een illegale discomix, waar de originele platen in zaten.

Tsja, het zal aan mij liggen. Ik heb Exile vaak horen draaien als ware het disco in elk geval. En voor rock heeft het wel een hele zware beat, al hoor je dat in het filmpje niet zo. Maar ik geef toe dat deze pas op het laatst is toegevoegd toen ik de lijst tot 512 completeerde met nummers uit de single top 100´s van de relevante jaren met wat ik dacht dat discohits waren.

Jammer dat Giorgio Moroders (Suzy Lane) Harmony af gaat vallen, met Blondie als natuurlijk sterke tegenstander (ik vind het zelf niet zo denderend, terwijl ik toch behoorlijk Blondiefan ben geweest). Ik hoopte dat Donna Summer (de 16 minuten versie please ) nog een kansje zou maken tegen het door mij toch wel gehate Staying Alive. Het is mijn ronde niet zo, geloof ik. Als Passengers (voor mij de beste van deze 8 ) ook verliest zit ik vier keer aan de verkeerde kant!
